Live Action Photographer for 9-weekend Gig

On Point National Dance Competition is an amateur dance competition for youth ages 4-18. When a dance competition venue is set up the doors are opened and hundreds of dancers arrive with their talents and enthusiasm. At the Director’s queue, the first routine is called to the stage and there is an anticipatory silence but when the music starts the building comes alive with unmatched energy and excitement that lasts the entire weekend! On Point is seeking talented, hardworking crew members to create this experience with us. Join us in having fun and making memories with this year’s dancers!!

The Job:

On Point photographers are responsible for preserving lasting memories for each dancer. This position requires candidates to:

• Competently shoot a high volume of high quality action shots in low light, fast-paced conditions. Strong organizational skills and the ability to administer every detail of his or her duties so precisely and smoothly that everyone in attendance is only aware of the fun they are having!!
• Creatively capture both wide angle and close up images as each routine performs
• Confidently adjust shutter speeds, apertures, and ISO settings on the Canon equipment provided to capture crisp, well-lit images of subjects. The photos are not re-touched so your sports photography skills must produce visually aesthetic images the first time.
• Positively work as a team to perform a variety of event production duties including setting up and breaking down each event in addition to their assigned position
• Physically and mentally manage very long days standing at the camera.

Candidates should plan to for long weekends that include Thursday departures and Monday returns. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and based in/near Central NJ with the ability to travel from March through May. The Photographer will have a valid driver's license and their own reliable transportation to On Point’s corporate office.

Main Job Descriptions/Expectations:

• Canon experience – photographer will use On Point’s cameras and lenses
• Computer competency – photographer will use On Point’s computers to store/categorize images
• Reliability and attention to detail is a MUST! – we cannot miss or “lose” routine photos
• Positive, can-do personality
• Well-groomed appearance
• Ability to work long hours in high-stress theatrical production environments
• Located within a reasonable driving distance of Hillsborough, NJ
• Will share responsibility for driving company van, paid for by On Point
• Physically able to lift/lower equipment for load-in/load-out at corporate office and for set-up/break-down at each event
• Past dance convention/competition experience is very helpful but not necessary!
