Position Summary
The position of the Shop Technician is a support position for the Sanitation Technicians at our St. Paul (Little Canada) location. In support of the company mission the Shop Technician position will include cleaning sanitation equipment, equipment preventative maintenance, cleaning and organizing the workshop, storage areas (inside and outside), and general building and grounds maintenance.
The Shop Technician position will have interactions with diverse teammates throughout each day and as such will be expected to provide professional, courteous service to all individuals they may have contact with.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct maintenance and repairs on damaged/broken equipment
- Restock all route trucks each day to be prepared for the next day’s business needs
- Provides input to improve position efficiencies
- Communicate with internal customers in a positive, friendly, professional manner at all times.
- Work with all company departments to meet the needs of the customers.
- Maintain a clean/safe/organized work area at all times
- Follow all company/federal/state safety requirements
- Show vigilance as it pertains to a safe working environment and instruct co-workers, guests, vendors if safety violations occur
- Maintains teamwork with employees by balancing team and individual responsibilities
- Ability to conduct preventative maintenance on equipment
- Displays professionalism by approaching others in a tactful manner, treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position; accepts responsibility for own actions
- Follows all company policies and procedures and supports organizations goals and values
- Other duties as assigned or needed
Position Requirements
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a Team and is open to direction from supervisor(s)
- Safely walk, reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat and kneel as necessary to perform the job duties.
- Good interpersonal skills
- High level of attention to detail
- Displays the ability to learn quickly on the job
- Shows adaptability as new processes are put into place
Physical Demands
- Safely climb in and out of trucks and equipment
- Safely walk and stand for extended periods of time on cement in a garage that is not climate-controlled and may be slippery
- Safely walk, reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat and kneel as necessary to perform the job duties.
- Ability to work in the elements of all 4 seasons to include adverse and inclement weather
- Push/pull/lift 100-200lbs on a regular basis
