Slope, ensuring both our patients and clients receive the exceptional service they deserve.
The primary responsibilities of the position include overseeing human resources functions, administration, policy
enforcement, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, bookkeeping and general operations. The Practice
Manager will have knowledge of all the responsibilities to further the management of a veterinary hospital and have
direct authority and decision-making responsibilities over all business aspects of the veterinary practice.
Pay and Benefits:
$60K-$75K depending on experience. A Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM) or Registered Veterinary
Technician (RVT) is preferred.

As our Practice Manager, you will:
Personnel
Plans for optimal staffing to assure maximum productivity and service.
Directly recruits, interviews, and hires support staff personnel.
Supervises support staff personnel and acts as the direct authority regarding disciplinary procedures,
discharging, and all the legal responsibilities of employment.
Schedules personnel and is responsible for support staff personnel employment benefits.
Assures that personnel are properly trained for their position.
Maintains a thorough set of employment policies and employee manual.
Mediates all personnel problems, maintains employee motivation, and structures continuing education for
support staff personnel.
Schedules and conducts staff meetings as needed.
Patient/Client Production
The veterinary hospital manager is responsible for seeing that success is achieved with each client interaction
with the veterinary hospital staff.
The hospital manager will use the tools of education, motivation, structuring, scheduling, coordinating,
evaluation, and analysis to achieve optimal client satisfaction from the veterinary hospital services and staff.
Developing and accomplishing a hospital marketing program.
Oversees the building and equipment maintenance and housekeeping standards.
Accounting
Either directly prepares or supervises preparation of all business accounting reports and transactions. Audit both
the preparer and hospital personnel performance to assure that proper methods and techniques are being used.
Review and/or prepare all accounts payable and receivables to confirm that each is handled correctly and
timely.
Periodically reviews fee schedule for services, products, and increases or changes as necessary.
Establishes hospital budgets and projections for growth.
Reviews and/or purchases supplies and equipment assuring that a periodic review is made to assure that
optimal prices are obtained.
Teamwork:

Assist employees in the performance of their assignments.

Take direction and initiate actions (cross/additional training) that will allow the assumption of cross-functional
duties to ensure seamless operations.

prevention can occur.
Record/report the need for service maintenance or repair of equipment and remove any faulty equipment from
service.
Consistently evaluate work and determine if further steps are needed to meet expectations.
Take initiative to do or redo inadequate or incomplete work, even if it is not yours.
Ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Productivity/ Efficiency:
Consistently demonstrate ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner in order to meet current
needs, such as reprioritizing work as necessary.
Minimize non-productive time and fill slow periods with activities that will enable you to prepare to meet the
future needs of the system (education, organizing, housekeeping, and assisting others).

time frames.

Adherence to On-Site Veterinary Policies:
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of all policies and procedures and ability to reference them from
appropriate policies and manuals.

Working extended hours may be required as needed.
While performing the duties, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk and/or hear. The employee is
frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel. The employee is required to reach with hand and
arms. Occasionally required to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl. Frequently lift and or move up to 50
pounds. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision and
color vision.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
Exposure to viruses, disease and infection from patients and specimens in working environment.
Use of strength or agility in capturing and restraining stronger, more active animals.
General handling and restraint of large animals such as cows and horses.
Working Conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to hazards associated with aggressive patients;
hazards associated with infected animals and controlled substances; exposure to unpleasant odors and noises;
exposure to bites, scratches and animal wastes; possible exposure to contagious diseases.
Occasionally handle animal blood, urine and feces.
Follow federal and state animal health laws and regulations including OSHA and DEA.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Possess strong organizational skills
Able to work collectively with the entire staff.
Able to work with minimum supervision
Education/Training/Experience:
Practice Manager Certification or Registered Veterinary Technician preferred
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Knowledge of computers, printers and scanners
Familiarity with Medical Terminology
Proficiency in Typing
Familiarity with Microsoft Word
Knowledge of basic Bookkeeping
Proficient in Quickbooks
