What are the responsibilities and job description for the Damage Prevention Inspector Westchester County position at On The Mark Utility Locating Services?
Job Location: Rochester, NY
Work Hours: Monday thru Friday - 7:00 am - 3:30 pm
Rate of Pay: $13 - $17/hr
On The Mark Utility Locating Services, Inc. is a utility management service business. Our mission is to effectively and efficiently manage with excellence utilities in such a way as to protect life as well as our environment.
Position Summary:
- Perform tasks involving visits to various excavation sites within assigned responsible territory, but not limited to traveling outside of assigned territory when needed.
- Drivers to hand out materials and educate excavating contractors on the safe way to excavate per Dig Safely NY or Call 811 before you dig.
- Promote safe excavation practices in conversations with excavators.
- Safely drive to excavation locations.
- Communication throughout the day with dispatchers, area division supervisors and contractors as needed.
- Data entry of site visits via company provided device.
Work Environment:
Regularly visits near and inside excavation areas an in outside conditions that include inclement weather, rain, snow, heat and humidity.
Minimum qualifications:
- Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
- Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
- Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
- Ability to organize and prioritize daily work.
- Representing the company and damage prevention program in a professional manner through all interactions/contacts daily.
- Interaction at team meetings.
- Knowledge pertaining to excavating is not a requirement, however, is a plus.
Qualifications:
- Valid New York State (NYS) driver's license
- Working cellular smartphone
- Drug and alcohol free (will be DMV/background checked and drug and alcohol tested.)
- HS diploma, GED is a plus.
- Computer knowledge is a plus.
