FULL-TIME ONSITE IN FLORENCE, KY
Job Description
The Medical Billing Specialist is responsible for posting payments, adjustments and rejections to patient accounts in accordance with current policy and procedure, payer credentialing and contracting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Responsible for posting of all patient, insurance and $0 payments
- Sends for review all zero dollars, denials and underpaid amounts that fall outside clients’ collection policy.
- Makes line item adjustments, as directed, for all zero pays and denials
- Identify accounts that need to be refunded
- Ensure correct payment processing
- Run and analyze balancing report to ensure accurate posting
- Close batches in system at end of the day
- Abide with HIPAA and PHI guidelines at all times.
- Maintain/ initiate payer contracting with various insurances.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficient with Windows, MS Office, Outlook and Internet Explorer.
- Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
- Demonstrates an independent work initiative, sound judgment and strong work ethic.
- Works cooperatively in a team atmosphere
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- 1 year payment posting experience in a medical hospital or outpatient practice setting required. Will consider applicants with relevant education.
- Certification in MEDICAL billing preferred. CPB or CMRS
- Must be able to report onsite daily for assigned schedule.
- Pay is based on relevant experience.
