Job Summary / Overview
The Fitness Director is responsible for planning, implementing and managing the fitness programs for all health and recreation facilities within On Top of the World Communities. This position is responsible for bringing the latest exercise programs that are safe and effective to the residents, clients and guests of OTOW.

Creates a variety of exercise programs for facility clientele, OTOW residents and guestsEnsures staff is knowledgeable on the use and benefits of fitness equipment, services, products, programs, and activities through regularly scheduled staff meetings and training workshopsPrepares facilities for special fitness-related eventsPresents educational programs on wellness at MTP, enhancing the quality of life for seniors and encouraging an active and fit lifestyleDevelops and plans a diverse calendar of member programs and activities to include fitness and wellness programs, sports, and lifestyle management programsConducts new resident orientations including an introduction to the fitness centers, facilities, services, programs, policies, procedures and Balance AssessmentsCreates and implements an annual marketing and programming plan to promote all activities, encourage participation and maximize facility utilizationDevelops member participation and recruitment plans and outlines in detail all promotions, fitness programs and any expendituresEnsures all guest and class fees are correctly chargedDevelops monthly and yearly management report outlining key program statistics and a summary of daily operationsEnsures fiscal responsibility through efficient scheduling of facility and makes changes to stay within budgetary guidelines as neededWorks to make sure other employees follow safe exercise practicesMay be required to provide personal training and group class instruction when necessaryListens to resident and member concerns and responds appropriatelyWrites monthly fitness / wellness column for the World NewsDirectly supervises assigned employees, to include : interviewing, hiring and training staff, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding, counseling and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problemsCarries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable lawsPerforms all duties in adherence to Company standardsStrives to maintain a safe working environment through the prevention of accidents, the preservation of equipment, and the achievement of safe working practicesMaintains a positive and professional demeanor toward all residents, visitors and co-workersPerforms other duties as assignedQualifications (Education, Experience, Technical Skills)
Education and Experience :
High School Diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor's Degree in related field preferred5 years of professional senior-related fitness program experience required2 years of supervisory experience requiredCurrent Personal Training certification requiredCurrent specialty certifications in older adult fitness preferredCurrent CPR / AED and first aid certifications requiredSkills and Knowledge :
Must be able to read, write and understand English with strong business written and verbal communication skillsBilingual (Spanish) preferredAbility to express thoughts clearly and simplyComputer skills, including Microsoft Office, requiredAbility to demonstrate equipment use for exercise trainingEfficient, well organized, and able to handle a variety of duties simultaneouslyEffective leadership, decision-making and problem solving skillsCreativity, initiative, and good judgementAbility to plan, organize, direct, coordinate, implement and assess projects and personnelAbility to work well with the publicPersonal Attributes :
