Maintenance Technician Apprentice

Summary:

This position assists the Maintenance Team with chip and coolant recycling, routine preventative maintenance of conventional and CNC machines, cleaning and facilities maintenance. Ideal candidates have knowledge and experience with carpentry, electrical, hydraulics and mechanical systems. The goal of this position is to progress to the Maintenance Technician role.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Use hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties.
• Willing to learn or help train others.
• Operate forklift, scissor lift or other support equipment as needed.
• Sorting and packaging metal chips and solids for recycling purposes.
• Basic preventative maintenance tasks such as cleaning machine interior/exterior, re-filling oil/grease reservoirs, changing filters, etc.
• Maintain an organized tool cart and work area.
• Basic documentation of duties such as equipment inspection, maintenance checklists and component replacement.
• Other duties as assigned

Skills and Attributes:

• Basic mechanical ability.
• Manual dexterity and ability to lift 40 lbs. on a regular basis.
• Ability to accomplish tasks and follow directions without deviation from procedures.
• Ability to read and understand precautions, safety criteria, and protective requirements.
• Ability to work independently with a high degree of motivation.
• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Education and Experience:

· High School diploma/GED

Physical Demands:

· Lifting up to 40 lbs.

· Regularly standing and walking throughout the workday.

· Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crouch, kneel, crawl and lie down, lift; carry various weights, push/pull, reach, sit, walk, stand, balance, climb stairs, ladders and lifts and mobile equipment. Work above (4) feet when required. Operate foot controls.

· Use of computer keyboard and mouse.

Work Environment:

· Work may be performed in an office environment or the manufacturing area of the facility which may require use of safety glasses, hearing protection and gloves.

Exposure to heat, cold, dust, dirt, noise, odors, fumes, vapor from coolant, oil, chemicals etc. may also be encountered when in the manufacturing areas to varying degrees.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
