JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Overview:
As a Dispatcher Assistant you will play a crucial role in supporting the daily operations of our intermodal drayage operations.
You will work closely with dispatch manager, drivers, and clients to ensure the efficient movement of cargo containers and maintain exceptional customer service standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist dispatchers in coordinating and scheduling the pickup and delivery of cargo containers, optimizing routes for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Communicate with drivers to relay information regarding assignments, schedules, and any changes to routes or pick-up/delivery instructions.
- Track the progress of shipments and update clients on the status of their cargo, providing real-time updates as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of dispatch activities, including driver logs, dispatch orders, and relevant documentation.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, including safety regulations and transportation laws.
- Assist with administrative tasks, such as data entry, filing, and responding to emails and phone calls.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or relevant certifications is a plus.
- Previous experience in dispatch and road logistics.
- Bilingual fluency in both English and Spanish is required.
- Strong communication skills in both languages, both written and verbal.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
- Proficiency in using dispatching software and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Ability to learn and adopt to company transport management systems.
- Familiarity with transportation regulations and industry practices is a plus.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick decisions under pressure.
