Founded in 1984 as a non-profit organization, ONCC administered the first Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN®) examination in 1986. The Credentialing Programs Manager oversees ONCC certifications and certificate programs. Communicates with ONCC committee members, subject matter experts, panels, testing agencies contracted by ONCC, and other vendors. Responds to candidate inquiries regarding certification examinations / assessment and credential impact on nursing regulations. Interprets ONCC’s purpose, policies, and procedures to candidates, certificants, organizations, and the public.

This is a full-time REMOTE (work-from-home) position. Occasional travel to the ONCC Offices in Pittsburgh, PA throughout the year will be required.

Responsibilities

  • Manages certification examination development activities in partnership with external vendors including

Item writing workshops

  • Item review
  • Form review
  • Role delineation studies
  • Passing score studies
  • Upholds clinical accuracy of assessment-based certification program assessment items by
  • Facilitating subject matter expert committees

  • Referencing items to current sources
  • Upholds current reference titles for all programs
  • Contacts publishers for updated editions of reference books
  • Maintains accurate reference lists in ONCC marketing tools
  • Facilitates examination and assessment development committees and subject matter expert panels
  • Implements the certification examination form copyright process
  • Prepares certification examination forms for copyright review

  • Registers forms with the copyright office within three (3) months of new form deployment
  • Meets with Copyright Office examiner for final review of forms
  • Develops and updates practice tests for certification programs for which they are not involved in examination or ILNA development in collaboration with subject matter experts
  • Analyzes performance of all programs in consultation with contracted psychometricians and test development committees to
  • Maintain psychometrically sound and legally defensible tests

  • Adhere to accreditation and other industry standards
  • Recruits and trains subject matter experts who serve on the ONCC exam, and ILNA, and practice test development panels, committees, and task forces as needed
  • Reviews and maps NCPD and CME programs to appropriate subject areas on ONCC test content outlines for ILNA point allocation
  • Leadership : Manager – Individual Contributor

  • Develops and monitors annual budgets and corresponding business cases to ensure utilization meets strategic, operational, and budgetary goals
  • Facilitates departmental operations and / or organization-wide functional in support of organizational priorities
  • Demonstrates capacity to manage resistance to change and removes barriers to transformation and resources.
  • Demonstrates and supports a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Required Skills

  • Knowledge of trends in nursing certification, education, assessment methodology, and testing issues
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects
  • Strong written and oral presentation skills including presenting information to executive management, public groups, and / or boards of directors
  • Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or the certification community
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret psychometric data, test items, and technical specifications of certification boards
  • Required Education, Experience, and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing, management, or a health-related field ( An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirements ).
  • 7-9 years of oncology nursing experience
  • Master’s degree in nursing education and Certification experience is highly preferred.
  • Must have an active RN license
  • ONCC certification, I.C.E. Certified Credentialing Professional certification (ICE-CCP), or I.C.E. Credentialing Specialist Certificate is highly preferred.

    Pay Range :

    Oncology Nursing Society Enterprise (ONSE) uses a market-based approach to pay. Pay rates are established considering the following factors : federal, state, and local minimum wage requirements, job-related skills, experience, qualifications, and market conditions. Our ranges may be modified periodically based on market analysis.

    Anticipated Pay Range : $80,024 - $98,030 annually
