Job Description :
Delivers patient care in a compassionate and professional manner.
Effectively and efficiently work up patients on appropriate providers schedule; this includes but is not limited to :
- Providing preliminary information and obtaining patient history.
- Performing physical exam.
- Helping to formulate plan.
- Putting orders into EMR system.
- Reviewing and signing results and "completing" or "confirming" orders.
- Notifying appropriate departments of plan.
- Educating the patient.
- Assuring that documentation supports the charges rendered.
- Assuring accurate coding.
- Completing dictations for patient encounters within 48 hours.
Successfully manages treatment room including :
Managing "window" charts.Managing "work-in" appointments and assuming responsibility or adding the work-in appointment to the MD schedule if appropriate.Attempting to evaluate patients needing transfusion support.Sign-off on charts in EMR and encounter after reviewing appropriate results example, "gone" charts.Review, sign and address issues regarding "incoming" charts.Effectively and efficiently assists nursing staff with infusion issues including but not limited to infusion reactions, nurse questions and triage phone call questions.Daily manage assignments including :
Assure tasks are complete or moving toward completion in EMR system.When working with providers help complete their assigments.Dictates information in a concise chronological order with absolute date.Assures that charges are submitted daily.Available and willing to assist other mid-level providers with their caseload, checking to assure all are "caught up" before lunch or leaving at the end of the dayCommunicates to office ancillary areas (lab, nursing etc) when flow is not moving to assure maximum efficiency and minimize patient wait timesProvides inpatient coverage, per midlevel rotation, at both Atrium & Novant facilities to include :
Evaluating, documenting, and ordering on appropriate "rounds" patients.Checking for new consults and initiating them for the appropriate provider (calls all other physicians to obtain direction as to whether they wish assistance in starting the consult or not).Evaluating, documenting, and ordering on appropriate consult patients.Confirming the "off" or "vacation" MD patients are taken care of by the on-call physician.Assisting with inpatient care generating provider documentation and charges as appropriate.Documenting in EMR system all inpatient critical information to assure comprehensive care.Meets requirements per clinical trial department as sub-investigator.Prescribes medication per NC Medical Broad and DEA licensure guidelinesPrescribes chemotherapy under supervision of attending / back-up MD.Takes after-hours-call from 5 : 00pm to 8 : 00am per rotating schedule. This includes addressing admissions, consults and ensuring documentation of all calls Work rotating schedule with physician providers, as requested.Maintain competence with the clinical and office information system as appropriate.Adheres to quality control, infection control, and safety guidelines for equipment and work area.
