CAD Drafter I
Summary
This position is accountable for preparing complex drawings for electrical, mechanical, civil or structural engineering or construction projects, from preliminary layouts, notes, diagrams, verbal instructions and/or other data. The incumbent also supports the Transmission Engineering Services Department objectives of meeting the needs of a diverse clientele group.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Directly or through others, the incumbent will:
- Provide timely creation of engineering drawings required to implement engineering designs.
- Use Computer Aided Design & Drafting (CADD) tools including MICROSTATION, Raster-IRASB/Descartes, PROJECTWISE, IPLOT, PLS CADD, and other software developed or acquired to automate the drawing creation process.
- Prepare electrical schematic and wiring diagrams and electrical physical drawings.
- Prepare structural plans, details and shop drawings as needed to support structural design.
- Prepare mechanical or electromechanical equipment drawings with geometric dimensioning as defined by ANSI.
- Convert existing drawings to electronic format by efficient use of scanning and hybrid raster/vector technology.
- Update engineering drawings of record as defined by project, construction, or engineers to reflect as-built status.
- Support the drawing and drawing project control functions as needed.
- Work with plan and profile drawings, relief maps, and other civil drawings.
- Complete special projects as assigned
- Have thorough knowledge of and follow Safety practices and policies
- Have thorough knowledge of and follow Oncor’s Code of Conduct
- Effectively interface with Oncor employees on a project basis
- Performs all essential aspects and functions of the job as well as any other specific job requirements.
Education, Experience, & Skills
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent is required.
- Associate Degree in CADD operations or 1-2 years experience in drafting with operating knowledge of hybrid vector/raster CADD software and scanning tools.
- Experience in Transmission related drafting is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage assignments under time constraints.
- Demonstrated flexibility to adjust to changes in direction and priorities.
- Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.

CAD Drafter II
Summary
