Summary
This position is responsible for providing project management oversight and technical leadership for Distributed Energy Resources (DER), Distribution Generation and Energy Storage Resources (DGR/DESR) registered with ERCOT and seeking interconnection within the Oncor distribution system. This includes serving as primary point of technical leadership for customers, installers, and energy resource developers submitting new DER, DGR/DESR projects ranging from; solar, battery energy storage, conventional generators, microgrids and other emerging technologies to ensure safe and reliable, parallel operations within the Oncor distribution system.
The position provides project management oversight and technical leadership for DER, DGR and DESR projects throughout the full project life-cycle including prescreening locations, initial application, system impact and detailed technical studies, execution of the interconnection agreement, overseeing scheduled construction, relay testing and commissioning, coordination with ERCOT and final approval for commercial operation.
The Engineer Associate and Engineer roles generally provide project management oversight of medium-large commercial DER, DGR and DESR projects using project management and eTRACK workflow automation software. The Senior Engineer role supports additional objectives of the organization generally through development and implementation of evolving technical DER interconnection and operating standards, and supporting the cross-functional business processes and documentation. The Consulting Engineer role provides oversight and technical supervision of DER, DGR and DESR projects within the company and outside the company representing DG technology on various technical and standards organizations.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Directly or through others, the incumbent will:
- Manage information and data for DER projects requesting interconnection with the Oncor distribution system using eTRACK for all phases of the project life-cycle including prescreening locations, initial application, system impact studies, executing the interconnection agreement, overseeing scheduled construction, relay testing and commissioning, and final approval for commercial operation.
- Ensure system impact study cost estimates, working schedules and target service dates, have been established and communicated with all key stakeholders, and any changes, impacts and new expectations are communicated with all key stakeholders and updated in eTRACK project tracking reports.
- Provide active management of the eTRACK system for DER project tracking, generator model data, updates and maintenance; develop and maintain the expertise necessary to draw on the eTRACK database for various planning and operations data analytics and reporting needs; support the environment for users with needs to access the DER records of the department and within the eTRACK database.
- Acquire and maintain knowledge of DER interconnection requirements, equipment and operating standards, and NERC, Texas RE, ERCOT, PUCT, IEEE, or other authorities.
- Serve as the project manager and primary point of contact representing DER projects from customers, installers, and energy resource developers across internal departments supporting the assessment of impacts and upgrade costs from planning, system protection, engineering, construction, and ongoing operation.

Job Attributes, Education and Experience
Engineer Associate:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or other Engineering field required.
Engineer:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or other Engineering field required.
- Minimum two (2) years of applicable engineering experience preferred.
