Position Summary
This posting is for one position to be filled at the Staff II or Senior level based on the credentials of the successful candidate.
Personnel in this position provide reasonable assurance that Oncor Electric Delivery is compliant with all local, state, and federal environmental regulations by serving as a day-to-day Environmental Services contact and adviser for Distribution and Transmission field operations. The successful candidate will operate in a service territory that is roughly bounded on the north by Corinth, on the south by Farmers Branch, on the east by Richardson and on the west by Coppell. The successful candidate will be expected to reside within one hour’s drive from this service territory.
Key Responsibilities:
While other duties may be assigned, the incumbent works independently to provide 24 hour, 7 days per week response to environmental incidents such as:
- Review applicable environmental regulations, develop environmental compliance programs, and implement these programs for Oncor Electric Delivery. This position also provides training and routine guidance on environmental matters to Oncor facility personnel.
- Perform Compliance Assistance Visits (CAV) at Oncor Electric Delivery facilities.
- Prepare and review Spill Prevention Control and Counter (SPCC) plans in accordance with federal requirements.
- Provide training and routine guidance to Oncor Electric Delivery personnel on environmental issues including Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC), Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCB’s), spill response and cleanup, documentation requirements for environmental programs, petroleum storage tanks, as well as management, storage and transportation of waste and petroleum storage tanks.
- Coordinate the remediation of regulated materials. This includes site characterization, waste characterization, determination of appropriate remediation, coordination of remediation efforts and coordination of waste transportation and disposal.
- For remediation projects, also serve as the initial liaison with appropriate regulatory This includes monitoring of documentation to ensure accuracy and that regulatory requirements are met.
- Serve as interface for Oncor Electric Delivery customers and address customer concerns regarding environmental issues including response to electrical equipment PCB inquiries.
- Comply with safety rules and procedures, and promote safety in the workplace.
- Performs all essential aspects and functions of the job as well as any other specific job requirements.
Experience and Skills

- Knowledge of electric utility operations a plus.
- Ability to develop trust and build relationships with peers, cross functions, the public, consultants and environmental control authorities.
- Ability to adapt to complex conditions such as changing schedules, priorities, work situations, and demands.
- Strong analytical and communication skills including the ability to effectively speak in front of an audience.
- Basic computer literacy.
Education
- Staff II Position:
- Bachelor's degree and four years’ experience in life sciences, geology, engineering or equivalent OR
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent and eight years’ experience in life sciences, geology, engineering or equivalent can be accepted in lieu of the above (12 years preferred).
- Superior knowledge of environmental laws/regulations.
- Senior Position:
- Bachelor's degree and six years’ experience in life sciences, geology, engineering or equivalent OR
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent and ten years’ experience in life sciences, geology, engineering or equivalent can be accepted in lieu of the above (14 years preferred).
- Expert knowledge of environmental laws/regulations.
Measures of Success
- Demonstrate a commitment to safety
- Responds to environmental events (at a minimum, by telephone or cell phone) within 1 hour, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- Performs annual Compliance Assistance Visits (CAVs) and address CAV action items within 60 days of the CAV.
- Provide annual environmental refresher training to field personnel.
- Manage SPCC plans associated with assigned territory.
