Position Summary
Transmission Engineering is accountable for planning, organizing, directing, and managing the engineering design, requisitioning of material and equipment, land, and construction support of transmission lines, switching stations, and load-serving substation facilities.
With minimal supervision, Project Planning Analysts are responsible for analyzing budgets, schedules, material data, preparing reports on capital Transmission projects, and performing various project-related tasks as detailed below.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Directly, or through others, the incumbent will:
- Provide analytical support to Transmission Engineering
- Work Authorization or Purchase orders creation to ensure proper budgetary accounting
- Review and track project billing, invoicing, and payment for vendor orders and customer projects
- Prepares detailed reports and analyzes monthly journals
- Proactively monitor Transmission Engineering projects to provide material or cost risk identification
- Assist (Associate) or lead (Senior) in developing internal controls and new processes that enhance visibility and improve accuracy
- Prepare and analyze project data within assigned programs as required - PETE, FIM, Maximo, ProjectWise
- Prepare reports for various categories, projects, organizational levels, and internal/external stakeholders
- Assist in (Associate) or lead (Senior) the development of annual forecasting needs to ensure successful completion of Transmission Engineering Objectives
- Utilize analysis tools to translate large quantities of data into actionable information suitable for use by various workgroups
- Interface with vendors and contractors on reporting, ordering, and issue resolution
- Provide documentation as necessary for SOX control and audit requests
- Performs all essential aspects and functions of the job as well as any other specific job requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned
Skills
- Strong written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills

- Ability to analyze, manage and generate various reports and summaries
- Effective analytical, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving skills
- Capable of working with people of diverse backgrounds and varying levels of experience
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications, such as Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Strong written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience in Utility Design and/or Transmission Operations preferred
- Knowledge of the Transmission capital project or material management process is preferred
Experience
- Two years of experience in data, financial or technical analysis
- Demonstrated ability to create and analyze reports of increased complexity
- Able to set priorities without having full project requirements known
- An understanding of accounting principles such as GAAP, SOX, and General Ledger is preferred
- Experience with FIM, PETE, and Maximo database programs is preferred
Education
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required; college degree in a related field is a plus.
