Summary
The Technical Specialist II (Technology Control Systems Integrator) is responsible for functional requirements definition, security, implementation and maintenance of Transmission Management System. This individual will interface with various Technology and Operational Technology functions, contractors and Oncor business partners to define, prioritize and execute application enhancements, operational performance, projects and maintenance requests. The Technology Control Systems Integrator is responsible for supporting servers, databases, storage, security, networks and applications that support the real time operations environment. The Technology Control Systems Integrator must adhere to utility industry regulatory requirements and best practices, and guidelines to ensure real-time operation of Oncor’s Control Systems environments remains available 24/7.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Directly or through others, the incumbent will:
- Assist in the maintenance, daily operation and troubleshooting of Oncor’s protected applications, including those applications supported by a 3rd party
- Provides support of the real time 24/7 monitoring, maintenance and daily operations of the Transmission Management (TMS) SCADA System.
- Supports the implementation of Technology infrastructure including networks, server systems, security technologies, databases and application architectures
- Implements systems patches and remediates vulnerabilities in accordance with change management processes.
- Responsible for maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations, NERC CIP requirements, , Oncor policies, and procedures.
- Respond to issues reported by TGO, DOCs and application users.
- Interact with business partners across multiple business units to ensure high support levels are maintained in the TMS environment
- Support root cause analysis to assist in the resolution of TMS.
- Provide coordination of outages due to maintenance, upgrade and implementations with the Transmission Grid Operations and DOC Operations Control rooms.
- Support Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity planning and testing efforts for the TMS environments
- Performs other duties as assigned when required
Education, Experience, & Skills
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent is required; Bachelor degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science or a related field and a minimum of 4 years IT operational maintenance experience or equivalent is preferred
- Experience with customer information systems, meter management systems, distribution information systems, and other applications used in the utility industry is also preferred
- Possesses general IT knowledge including strong verbal and written communication skills, leadership skills, ability to understand business requirements and needs
- Able to build strong relationships with vendors and functional partners
