What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laboratory Technician position at Ondine Research Laboratories?
We are looking for a qualified Lab Technician to undertake a variety of laboratory procedures of technical nature. You will be handling sensitive equipment to analyze samples or substances and conduct tests reporting findings to a laboratory manager. The ideal candidate will have experience in working under possibly hazardous conditions (e. g. pathogens or chemicals). The candidate will be responsible for maintaining laboratory supplies, media, cultures and day-to-day operations, preparation and maintenance of laboratory equipment, preparation of the solution, reagents, and overall microbiological testing for R&D and environmental samples.
Responsibilities
- Receive, label and analyze samples
- Routine and maintenance of lab equipment (incubators, hoods, autoclave, etc), daily cleaning, biohazard disposal, etc.
- Conduct Environemntal Monitoring testing for production areas
- Conduct microbiological experiments including projects relating to testing of PDT
- Organize and store chemicals
- Record all data and results in specified forms (paper and electronic) with accuracy and responsibility.
- Maintain equipment and assist in ordering laboratory supplies
- Prepare media and reagents as needed for microbiology testing
- Ensure that all safety guidelines are followed strictly at all times and maintain a clean and orderly environment
Skills
- Experience working in the Laboratory
- Experience in operating laboratory equipment and potentially dangerous substances (flammable liquids, infectious bacteria, biohazards, etc.)
- Ability to work safely under limited supervision in the lab
- Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint required
- Bachelor’s degree in microbiology, biology, chemistry, or related science program
- Detail-oriented and well-organized.
- Ability to organize and analyze data.
- Ability to perform assigned tasks according to procedures, make accurate observations and records of test results.
