**Responsibilities:**
- Safely operate a wheelchair van to transport patients to from medical facilities, homes, and other locations.
- Assist passengers in and out of the vehicle, ensuring their safety and comfort at all times.
-Must be able to pull or push patients up to 450lb seated in wheelchairs
- Maintain the cleanliness and operational status of the vehicle.
- Adhere to scheduled routes and timeframes.
- Complete required documentation and reports.
**Requirements:**
- Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Excellent knowledge of Scranton and surrounding areas.
- Physical ability to assist passengers in and out of the vehicle.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Prior experience in similar role is preferred but not mandatory.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
**Duties and Responsibilities of the Van Driver:**
- Coordinate with facility medical and nursing staff regarding the transportation of residents to scheduled medical appointments.
- Report any known or potential mechanical problems or repairs with the facility’s vehicle to the Maintenance Director immediately.
- Use protective clothing or when handling infectious waste and/or blood/body fluids.
- Report missing or illegible labels and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) to your Supervisor.
- Ensure that emergency equipment (e.g., triangles, fire extinguisher and first-aid kit) is available and in good working condition.
- Recommend your Supervisor any equipment and supply needs for the facility’s vehicle.
- Drive the facility’s vehicle to events and activities outside the facility as necessary.
- Transport residents to medical appointments and recreational activities according to established schedules and allotted timeframes.
