What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Billing Specialist position at One Cross Community Health?
Busy Rural health office is seeking a Billing/Insurance Specialist. This person will have an above average interpersonal communication skills required. Ability to deal with the public, patients and fellow staff in a professional manner. The ability to write professional correspondence via letters or email. High attention to detail and organizational skills is critical. This candidate will have a working knowledge of basic communication software, including MS office and Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other related programs. This person will preferably need to have a strong working knowledge of CPT and ICD Coding systems & knowledge of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology. Duties will include prepare & process insurance claims and service bills for billable patients. Maintains patient files including insurance information, diagnosis service, billing and correspondence records for all billable patients. Request patient medical records from outside agencies when requested by the clinic staff. Performs quality control on new accounts and change codes per Rural health clinic policies and procedures. Reconciles patient accounts. Reports total amount billed and payments received. Tracks payment activity on all billable patients and follows up to endure timely payments. Maintains established department policies & procedures. The ideal candidate should be flexible and enjoy a growing, fast paced environment!
