Role Summary: This position plays a vital role in supporting the company’s regulatory efforts by conducting detailed analytical work related to required filings. With responsibilities that evolve based on shifting priorities and regulatory developments, the role requires adaptability and keen attention to detail. Key duties include coordinating filings, analyzing relevant data, and collaborating across teams to compile information necessary for commission submissions. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, analytical expertise, and the ability to communicate effectively with both internal stakeholders and external regulatory bodies.
What You Will Do
Perform advanced level of accounting activities; evaluate studies and reports related to finance, accounting, taxation, and billing.
Evaluate information for reports, exhibits, and recommendations related to rate cases, legislative pronouncements, regulatory orders, regulatory tariffs, and finance, accounting, taxation, and billing related issues.
Perform calculations and analysis including:
- Cost of service studies
- Economic/financial forecasts
- Financial ratios
- Rate/tariff schedules
- Compliance with regulatory requirements
Provide required assistance in the development of applicable computer programs used in rates, finance, customer billing, and accounting activities.
Prepare financial information including:
- Proof of revenue studies
- Governmental/regulatory reports
- Cost of gas
- Peer company rate comparisons
- Special projects
Advise and assist governmental and regulatory agencies, management, project teams, customers, and others relative to regulatory reporting, accounting processes, and financial reports.
Prepare written testimony and give oral testimony to State and Local regulatory bodies related to rate cases, legislative, pronouncements, regulatory orders, regulatory tariffs, and finance, accounting, taxation, and billing related issues.
Process and respond to discovery requests in regulatory or legal proceedings.
Regular and reliable attendance is required in performance of job.
Employee may perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
What You Will Need
Minimum Bachelor's Degree accounting, finance, economics, business administration, statistics or other related discipline.
Experience with rate-making processes and applicable company rate structures.
Working knowledge of economic and accounting.
Experience related to:
Company specific and industry rate-making processes
Regulatory/governmental regulations applicable to rate-making
Develop and apply rate or billing schedules
Experience with the application of math, advanced algebra, and statistics.
Experience in use and function of office equipment including computers and applicable software.
Experience evaluating reports, invoices, studies, and correspondence concerning the impact of standards, regulations, and legislation on company operating income, customer billing, finances, and accounting processes.
Experience preparing reports, exhibits, schedules, studies, and correspondence applicable to position.
Experience reading and interpreting internal and external correspondence, governmental regulations, reports, financial reports, accounting and tax-related publications, contracts, manuals, computer printouts, and legal documents.
Experience working and communicating effectively.
Experience developing and presenting information to management, individuals, and groups.
Read and write fluently in English.
Mobility to travel in and around office facilities both in-state and out of state.
Operate office tools and equipment applicable to job.
Communicate and exchange information or instructions and conduct oral presentations.
Visual ability to perform job responsibilities.
