What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tax Accountant position at ONE Gas?
This will be a hybrid position with three days per week in office(subject to change).

What You Will Do
Perform intermediate level of tax accounting and other financial activities; analyze and prepare related tax returns and reports
Analyze and prepare journal entries, records, account reconciliations, reports, and budgets related to tax, accounting, or finance.
Develop and maintain applicable spreadsheet models and distributed applications such as those used in finance and other accounting activities.
Verify and perform calculations and analyses including:
- Sales and Use tax returns
- Property tax returns
- Assist with income tax accounting and return preparation
- Cash flow
- Financial ratios
- Actual to forecast and historical period variance analysis
- Depreciations (book)
- Rate/tariff schedules
- Projections/forecasts
- Allocations
Compile, verify, and prepare a variety of financial information including:
- Actual to forecast and historical period variance analysis
- Governmental/regulatory reports
- Invoices
- Financial reports
- Reconciliation reports
- Quarterly income statements
Provide information and assistance to employees from governmental and regulatory agencies, auditing firms, management, and others concerning accounting processes and multiple financial reports.
Compliance with Sarbanes Oxley and applicable Regulatory Requirements.

Make recommendations to improve departmental job, processes and procedures
Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; read professional publications; maintain personal networks; participate in professional organizations.

What You Will Need
Minimum bachelor's degree accounting, finance, or other related field.
Experience with and knowledge of generally accepted accounting methods and procedures.
Experience performing an intermediate level of accounting activities such as financial accounting, property accounting, account classification, or gas accounting.
Experience with application of math, algebra, and statistical methods.
Experience in use and function of office equipment including computers and applicable software.
Experience and/or training related to:
- Spreadsheet and word processing software applications
- Financial accounting and reporting standards and processes (specified by position)
- Economic forecasting/modeling and corporate budget functions (specified by position)
- Regulated accounting activities and terminology (specified by position)
Experience researching, composing, reconciling, and preparing reports, studies, and correspondence applicable to position.
Experience reading and interpreting company correspondence, reports, accounting-related publications.
Experience collaborating, advising, and communicating effectively with internal and external customers.
Develop and present information to individuals and groups.
Read and write fluently in English.
Mobility to travel in and around office facilities system wide.
Visual abilities to perform job responsibilities.
Able to communicate and exchange information or verbal instructions and conduct oral presentations.
