Job Description:
We are seeking a friendly, organized, and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our team at ONE Health, a psychiatric practice dedicated to providing quality mental health care. This part-time position offers the opportunity to work in a supportive environment that focuses on patient well-being. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing an office, interacting with patients in crisis, and handling sensitive mental health information with professionalism and care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet and check in patients for psychiatric appointments, ensuring a welcoming and supportive environment.
- Answer phone calls and assist patients with appointment scheduling, information requests, and inquiries related to mental health concerns.
- Collect and verify patient information, including insurance details, medical history, and emergency contact information.
- Provide support in managing crisis calls, de-escalating urgent situations, and coordinating timely appointments or referrals.
- Maintain and update electronic medical records (EMR), ensuring accurate documentation of patient visits and mental health care details.
- Assist with the coordination of care between patients, mental health professionals, and family members, ensuring confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
- Perform general office tasks including filing, faxing, and ensuring a clean, organized reception area.
- Communicate effectively with patients and staff, offering empathy and support in a mental health setting.
- Assist with additional administrative and billing duties as needed
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a medical or psychiatric office is preferred.
- Familiarity with mental health conditions, treatment plans, and crisis management.
- Effective communication skills, both in person and over the phone, with an ability to remain calm and empathetic in high-stress situations.
- Proficient in using office equipment and computer systems, including experience with electronic medical records (EMR).
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential patient information with discretion.
- Organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced psychiatric environment.
- Experience with insurance verification, billing, and understanding of mental health services is a plus.
Schedule:
- Part-time, 20 hours per week
- Hybrid, 16 hours per week in-office, plus 4 hours of remote work
