Job Summary
Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Programs, the Residential Supervisor is responsible for the daily management of a residential living environment; this living environment promotes the learning of skills for emotional, mental, and physical health; primary responsibilities include providing a healthy, safe, clinical and structured environment, as specified in each youth’s Individual Treatment Plan and in the OHU Residential Policy and Procedures Manual.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Supervises a team of Youth Care Workers and House Parents as they perform duties associated with the day-to-day training, modeling, and skill-building of youth assigned
• Supervises a team of Youth Care Workers and House Parents as they teach and participate in individual and group instruction in daily living, recreational activities, social skills, and independent living skills as prescribed by each youth’s Individual Treatment Plan
• Participates in continual training and maintains certification in the implementation of Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) and all other required trainings,
• Supervises staff as they follow OHU Residential Policy and Procedures, including daily schedule, trauma informed care and mental health treatment of youth in the homes,
• Demonstrates the highest investment in and commitment to quality improvement practices in order to continuously improve the delivery of services to our youth,
• Facilitates team meetings of residential home,
• Participates in meetings, staffings and court proceedings as necessary,
• Attends training, seminars, and conferences as assigned,
• Completes, in a timely and accurate fashion, all documentation required for the position,
• Completes all performance evaluations within specified time frames,
• Provides 1:1 supervision with Youth Care Workers and House Parents including all documentation of supervision,
• Maintains the schedule of Youth Care Workers and House Parents, managing leave and vacation and minimizing any overtime shifts,
• Responsible for an OHU credit card, coding and submitting of receipts,
• Performs on call duties as assigned,
• Treats with absolute confidence all information concerning OHU residents,
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Education
• BA/BS degree in related and/or approved field
• BA/BS degree in related and/or approved field
Experience
• 5 years residential or other approved mental health experience required
Other
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record with OHU required levels of
coverage for auto insurance
Required Skills
1. Proficient computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment and adaptive skills to expand software application skills as necessary
2. Highly organized, yet flexible, and can handle multiple priorities/projects well; ability to manage tight deadlines
3. Excellent interpersonal skills and effective communications skills (verbal, written, documentation, listening)
4. Ability to exercise discretion and ensure confidentiality
5. Patience, positive attitude and willingness to develop greater skills and understanding of youth with behavior disorders and/or mental health issues
6. Willingness to engage with youth in social and recreational activities, as well as act in a surrogate parent role including assisting with homework, chores, attending appointments, school activities and events, and any CBC and DCF related expectations
7. Ability to supervise a diverse population of youth care staff
8. Ability to accept direction and modify interactions with youth at direction of supervisory and clinical team
Physical Demands & Work Environment
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position requires visual and auditory acuity within professionally determined normal ranges, with correction if need; and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer and office equipment, including, but not limited to, the telephone,
computer, and copier. The employee is occasionally required to move items up to 50 pounds. The position requires certification in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, which involves physical restraint. The employee works in varied residential environments based on assigned caseload and may encounter unpredictable clients. While performing the duties of this position, the employee travels by
automobile and is exposed to changing weather conditions. The employee must be able to enter and exit a vehicle or a building without assistance. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently drive an automobile, taking clients to appointments, in the local and regional area.
Occasionally, travel is outside the local area and overnight.
