JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Strategic Initiatives has a highly impactful role that takes ownership and represents One More Child in an expansion area. It serves as a catalyst for mobilizing the local church to make a lasting impact on children and families within the child welfare system. This role equips churches with tools and training to serve the most vulnerable populations. Through this, the Director will prepare churches, so they are able to provide crucial support to foster families, create and grow church-based single moms community programs, host family support events, and lead efforts to combat human trafficking through training, prevention, and awareness. The Director is responsible for networking, building relationships, mobilizing volunteers, and overseeing initiatives that provide practical services to families in need. Additionally, the Director will build connections and relationships for development and fundraising purposes, contributing to sustainability of OMC’s work in the area. A remote position, it is nonetheless a dynamic and collaborative work environment, partnering with multiple other departments within the organization. It is a hybrid work approach that blends remote office-based work with time spent in the community. The role requires flexibility to work both independently and as part of a team, often engaging with diverse groups, including church leaders, volunteers, families, donors, and community partners.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS
- Church Engagement & Mobilization : Work directly with local churches to inspire and equip them to serve foster families, single mothers, and those impacted by human trafficking. Lead efforts to build long-term, sustainable partnerships that extend the Church’s reach in the child welfare system.
- Program Development & Oversight : Develop and implement programs using or adapting OMCs existing templates for growing programs that provide wrap-around support to foster families, including organizing volunteers, gathering resources, and ensuring families are well supported. Establish church-based single moms community programs, ensuring they are well-resourced and effective in meeting the needs of single mothers and their children.
- Training & Awareness : Lead and coordinate training for church members, volunteers, and first responders in the areas of trauma-informed care, human trafficking prevention, and other related topics. Ensure church members, volunteers, and first responders are equipped with the tools and knowledge needed to serve and protect vulnerable children and families.
- Volunteer Mobilization & Management : Mobilize, recruit, and manage a growing volunteer base, ensuring they are trained, supported, and connected to meaningful opportunities to serve. Monitor volunteer engagement and impact, ensuring volunteer efforts align with organizational goals.
- Direct Service & Impact : Oversee direct services provided to children and families, ensuring that support reaches individuals through church-based initiatives. Ensure these services are executed with compassion, effectiveness, and efficiency.
- Community Outreach & Partnerships : Cultivate relationships with local organizations, agencies, and other stakeholders in the child welfare and anti-human trafficking sectors to collaborate on initiatives and maximize the impact on the community.
- Impact Reporting & Evaluation : Track and measure the success of initiatives, reporting on the outcomes and overall impact. Continuously evaluate programs and services to ensure they meet the needs of the community and achieve desired results. Maintain awareness of designated budget, including expenditures and revenue sources, and participate in budget management processes and reporting.
- Development & Fundraising : Collaborate with the Development Department team to support fundraising activities, including donor engagement, grant writing, and event planning. Assist in identifying funding or revenue opportunities, cultivating relationships with potential donors, and communicating the impact of programs to secure financial support for ongoing initiatives.
