Job Summary

The Spa Attendant, under the direction of the Manager/Director, is responsible for maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleanliness throughout the spa, including managing the ambiance, replenishing amenities, ensuring hydrothermal experiences function, and maintaining clean linen. They must monitor the functionality of spa and fitness equipment and provide exceptional service in the changing rooms. The Attendant should be energetic, service-driven, and have a keen attention to cleanliness, while guiding guests through their spa experience and ensuring all service and facility standards are met. A friendly, enthusiastic, and accommodating attitude is essential.

Key Duties And Responsibilities

  • Provide seamless guest service by maintaining cleanliness and organization in locker rooms, pools, spa lounges, fitness areas, and both indoor and outdoor wellness facilities.
  • Conduct facility and locker room orientations, lead tours, and inform guests about available amenities, treatments, and retail options upon request.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and supervisors, assisting with the setup and breakdown of treatment areas as needed.
  • Handle guest interactions with professionalism and hospitality, accommodating special requests, addressing inquiries, and resolving concerns promptly.
  • Communicate effectively with both guests and team members in a friendly, attentive, and service-oriented manner.
  • Ensure safe and proper use of all equipment, including gym machines, free weights, bicycles, steam rooms, and accessibility lifts.
  • Assist guests and residents with facility registration and provide information about resort services and operating hours.
  • Promptly report equipment malfunctions and follow safety protocols, notifying Security of any incidents or injuries.
  • Maintain a five-star experience by stocking and distributing towels, robes, toiletries, refreshments, and other amenities.
  • Follow inventory management procedures, restock supplies, and report replenishment needs.
  • Enforce fitness area rules and regulations to ensure guest safety and compliance.
  • Maintain cleanliness across all wellness areas, including locker rooms, fitness spaces, pool decks, steam rooms, and relaxation lounges.
  • Attend required meetings and training sessions while adhering to the resort’s grooming and appearance standards.
  • Comply with all safety and operational protocols to enhance efficiency and maintain a secure environment.
  • Identify and address operational challenges, assisting in implementing solutions to improve service.
  • Anticipate guest and operational needs with initiative and proactive problem-solving.
  • Ensure all spa areas—including treatment rooms, changing rooms, relaxation lounges, pool decks, hair salon, and fitness center—are clean, organized, and meet health and safety standards regularly.
  • Assist with morning and evening setups, as well as turndown services in guest areas.
  • Support therapists by preparing and clearing treatment areas before and after services.
  • Keep lockers stocked with clean linens and guest supplies, promptly removing used items.
  • Provide assistance in locker areas, guide guests through hydrotherapy circuits, explain usage guidelines, and offer amenities or refreshments.
  • Escort guests to waiting areas, ensuring their comfort and preparation for treatments.
  • Report guest feedback, complaints, and lost-and-found items to the Duty Manager or Spa Director.
  • Monitor, report, and address any facility or equipment defects to maintain operational excellence.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness in storerooms, ensuring ample stock of cleaning supplies and guest amenities.
  • Conduct regular cleaning of facilities, including back-of-house areas, as needed.
  • Ensure an adequate supply of water, infused water, and fresh fruit in spa and wellness areas.
  • Document and relay key communications with fellow attendants and perform additional tasks as assigned by management.

Skills, Experience & Educational Requirements

  • Proficient in written and spoken English; additional languages are a distinct advantage.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with guests and colleagues.
  • Previous experience in 5-star resorts is highly desirable.
  • Ideally, have prior experience in public areas or housekeeping roles.
  • Demonstrate excellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain a highly hygienic environment.
  • Capable of extensive walking, standing, and performing heavy lifting as required.
  • Knowledgeable in public safety and security, including relevant equipment, policies, and procedures.
  • Physically able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and up to 20 pounds frequently for lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects.
  • Assist in the daily operations of the spa.
  • Offer support and assistance to all guests and team members, including reception and retail areas.
  • Maintain a warm, friendly, and professional demeanor at all times.
  • Flexible with work schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
