Position Summary:
The Domestic Trafficking Victims (DTV) and Child Sexual Abuse Materials (CSAM) Coordinator is responsible for leading efforts of the development, expansion, or enhancement of the full array of CAC services to victims of child sexual abuse materials (CSAM), including those victims of CSAM who are also victims of child sex trafficking. This role involves developing multidisciplinary response guidelines, facilitating community case review forums, and collaborating with MDT partners to ensure the safety and protection of children and trafficking victims. The coordinator will also be responsible for data collection, reporting, and increasing overall awareness of child sexual abuse materials and child sex trafficking.
The mission of the Child Advocacy Center is to minimize trauma to child victims of sexual and physical abuse and their non-offending family members by providing a centralized, safe, and child-friendly facility from which a multidisciplinary team (MDT) conducts investigation and intervention activities; to advocate for and support child victims and non-offending family members by representing their interests throughout the process, promoting appropriate therapies and making referrals to community resources as needed; and to enhance the quality of the legal process.
Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
Support and Services:
- Support the community in recognizing and establishing essential services for victims of human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC) victims.
- Provide support services (clothing, medical care, mental health services, and transportation) for victims of CSAM, including those who are also victims of child sex trafficking.
Training and Education:
- Provide training and education to professionals and community members regarding best practices in prevention, recognition, and response to suspected and identified victims.
- Participate in education activities related to the Child Advocacy Center/Multidisciplinary Team model and child sexual abuse identification, intervention, and prevention.
- Develop CAC competencies in service provision to victims of CSAM and/or child sex trafficking by focusing on specialized forensic interview (FI) training, screening and identification, evidence-based interventions for mental health clinicians, MDT response, and the provision of services, including cases of youth-produced sexual images.
Coordination and Collaboration:
- Collaborate with the MDT to ensure immediate, trauma-informed, and developmentally appropriate response and intervention.
- Work with community partners to establish and implement a streamlined response to suspected human trafficking victims.
- Collaborate with community partners to accurately assess and quantify the extent of the human trafficking issue in Onslow County, including the establishment and implementation of a standardized tool for the identification of suspected victims.
- Ensure compliance with the National Children Alliance’s Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children Standard.
- Facilitate the development of written protocols/guidelines, policies, and procedures for a coordinated CAC/MDT response specific to CSAM and child sex trafficking cases.
Participation and Representation:
- Develop opportunities to participate in national and regional organizations that work to raise awareness, seek preventive measures, and provide services to survivors of trafficking.
- Serve as a leader or representative on appropriate local, state, or regional committees and task forces, as appropriate.
- Participate in agency meetings and training as needed.
- Participate in ongoing initiatives of the organization and program.
- Maintain a database of unduplicated suspected and confirmed human trafficking and CSEC victims in Onslow County.
- Various other duties and special projects to be assigned by the CAC Director.
Staff Competencies/Qualities:
- A bachelor's degree in human services or a related field is preferred.
- 1-3 years of experience in human trafficking, sexual assault, or related field preferred.
- Experience and skills in community organization or implementing public health initiatives.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent technology skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships internally and externally and work as part of a team with maturity, professionalism, positive attitude, tact, and good judgment.
- Displays leadership and professional integrity
- Demonstrates ability to hold self and others accountable
- Ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team with a willingness to appreciate and value different points of view
- Knowledge of accounting as it relates to non-profit organizations and grant funding is highly desirable
