LOCAL PROJECT COORDINATOR FOR THE PROPOSED SUNNY CORNER WIND FARM

We’re looking for someone to support the Sunny Corner Wind Farm team with local community outreach and engagement for the investigation phase of the proposed Sunny Corner Wind Farm near Bathurst, NSW.

ABOUT THE PROPOSED SUNNY CORNER WIND FARM

The proposed Sunny Corner Wind Farm is located in the Sunny Corner State Forest, which is managed by the Forestry Corporation of NSW. The Sunny Corner State Forest is located north of the Great Western Highway, approximately halfway between Lithgow and Bathurst in NSW.

Sunny Corner Wind Farm is a joint venture between Mainstream Renewable Power and Someva Renewables and could become one of the first wind farms operating within a NSW State Forest.

Mainstream and Someva have been awarded a permit by the Forestry Corporation of NSW to jointly investigate a wind farm at Sunny Corner to operate in harmony with recreational and traditional forestry activities. If approved, the wind farm will generate about 500MW of electricity – enough to power up to 300,000 homes with affordable, clean, and reliable energy for 30 years. www.sunnycornerwindfarm.com.au

ABOUT YOU

  • You live near Sunny Corner State Forest and are familiar with the region and the local communities.
  • You have some experience in community engagement and community development.
  • You have experience working with and are respected by members of the local community.
  • You have strong networks and can manage community dynamics.
  • Experience in renewables is desirable but is not essential – we will bring you up to speed.
  • Available 2-3 days per week (up to 20 hours a week).
  • Our preference is to work with someone on a contractor / consultant basis.
  • Remuneration from $50.00 / hour (plus any travel / accommodation).

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Working collaboratively with the fantastic Sunny Corner Wind Farm Project Team, this role encompasses :

Local community engagement

  • Facilitating and attending initial neighbour meetings with Project Managers.
  • Meetings and discussions with project neighbors and community members, providing updates, listening to and tracking responses, updating materials.
  • Negotiating Near Neighbour Agreements.
  • Manning the Project’s local shopfront(s) / pop-up information hubs / local events.
  • Organising and attending Community Information Sessions.
  • Building awareness through meetings with and presentations to local community groups.
  • Identifying and coordinating potential sponsorship opportunities.
  • Canvassing options and ideas for the Project’s Community Benefit Program.
  • Maintaining an internal stakeholder register in a customer relationship management system.
  • Supporting First Nations engagement as required (this will be led by Someva’s Director of Community & Government Engagement and the Project Team).
  • If required, organising Community Consultative Committee quarterly meetings and providing minutes and actions to the chair.
  • Helping coordinate site visits with Project staff, contractors, consultants and others.

    • Engagement with Councils and local MPs

  • Supporting Project Managers with organising and attending meetings, presentations and discussions.
  • Arranging and joining site visits to operating projects, where required.

    • Local employment and supply chain development

  • Establishing and maintaining a supplier register within the customer relationship management system.
  • Supporting the development of a regional employment and supply chain network.

    • Structure and support

  • This position reports to Someva Renewables’ Director of Community & Government Engagement, with close collaboration and support from the Project Team.
  • A one-day induction and initial training day will be provided in Portland or Bathurst.
  • Regular bi-weekly meetings with the Project Team, and weekly progress reports.
