Direct Service Professional Job Responsibility:
PLEASE READ: This position is to assist someone that has higher physical needs and requires someone that is comfortable being more hands on.
- Must have your own vehicle and proof insurance.
- Must be Flexible with your schedule.
- Must be able to work with someone in a wheelchair and keep up with the physical aspects of the job.
- This position is FULL Time. Day shift.
Duties include:
- Provides direct care to those with intellectual, developmental and physical disabilities.
- Preforms personal care tasks, including assistance with basic personal hygiene and grooming, feeding and ambulation.
- Monitoring of health and safety.
- Skill building and social assistance.
- Fosters positive relationships between caretakers and individuals served.
- Reminds and assists individuals they work with self administration of medication (with proper training)
- Encourages self-help activities.
- Reports change of individuals condition or family situation to administrators and supervisors.
- Document service provided.
- Preforms home management functions such as light housekeeping and other tasks as assigned.
- Assist with daily living skills.
- Follow State rules and regulations when performing job duties.
- Preforms a variety of skill building and other tasks that are assigned to assist in the success of the individual and family that the DSP provide services for.
Qualifications and Skills
- Ability to work in a home and community setting
- Communication skills (verbally and written) with all levels of personnel, internal and external to the company.
- Ability to handle physical aspects of the job including bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching and walking.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Ability to utilize mobility equipment (shower chair, Hoyer Lifts, Etc..)
- Must be flexible
- Must be willing to train others and be trained
- Be on time and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
- Must have email and internet access.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
18 years of age or older
Valid Driver license
Current CPR/First Aid preferred but will train
Must be able to pass a Federal Background check
