Job Description
We are seeking a hands-on, entrepreneurial Founding Engineer to join One Stop Camp as a key early team member. This role is ideal for a engineer who thrives in a startup environment, takes ownership of product direction, and is excited about building core product functionality from the ground up. In particular, you will play a central role in developing the Child Profiles feature—a pivotal part of our platform that streamlines the registration experience for parents and automates operational tasks for providers.
As the Founding Engineer, you’ll partner closely with the CEO, to shape the technical architecture, create seamless user flows, and establish best practices. You will lead development with a strong focus on privacy, scalability, and user-centric design, setting the foundation for our product and future engineering team.
Responsibilities
- Architect and Build Core Product Features: Design and implement core features, with a particular focus on the Child Profiles functionality. This includes creating flexible profile structures, ensuring data consistency, and integrating with registration flows to automate program enrollment.
- Optimize User Experience: Build an intuitive, seamless user experience that enables parents to create, manage, and reuse child profiles across various programs, reducing repetitive data entry and ensuring consistent information for providers.
- Data Privacy and Security: Implement secure storage, encryption, and permissions management for sensitive child profile data, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations
- Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with product and design to define and refine requirements, contribute to the product roadmap, and prioritize features based on customer needs and technical feasibility.
- Develop Provider API: Design and implement an API that allows providers to securely access specific child profile information, with permissions controlled by parents.
- Scale and Optimize: Build for scalability, ensuring that the platform can handle a growing user base and large data volumes as more parents and providers join.
- Technical Leadership: Establish engineering standards, mentor future team members, and help shape a positive, collaborative engineering culture.
Qualifications
- 5 Years of Full-Stack Development Experience: Proficiency in a modern tech stack (e.g.,, Python, React, NoCode Platforms, AWS and
- other relevant frameworks).
- Experience with Privacy-Focused Design: Demonstrated knowledge of data security best practices, encryption, and compliance with child privacy regulations (COPPA or equivalent).
- Product-Focused: Passion for building customer-centric products with attention to user experience and problem-solving.
- Experience with APIs: Proven experience building APIs, especially those involving data sharing and secure access, ideally in a B2B context.
- Startup Mentality: Ability to work autonomously, make decisions quickly, and wear multiple hats in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborative Team Player: Strong communication skills, ability to work cross-functionally, and enthusiasm for building a positive, user-centered engineering culture.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Marketplace or Community Platforms: Familiarity with building B2C/B2B marketplace platforms or communities that facilitate direct connections and engagement.
- Background in EdTech or Family Services: An understanding of the children’s enrichment, education, or family services industry.
