Job Summary:


The DON Assistant will support the Director of Nursing in managing the nursing staff, overseeing patient care, ensuring compliance with health regulations, and maintaining the quality of care within the facility. The role combines leadership, administrative tasks, and direct involvement in clinical operations to ensure optimal patient outcomes and staff performance.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Administrative Support:

    • Assist the Director of Nursing in day-to-day administrative operations of the nursing department.
    • Help in the development, implementation, and evaluation of nursing policies and procedures.
    • Prepare reports and ensure that all documentation complies with regulatory standards.
    • Coordinate and schedule nursing staff shifts, meetings, and training sessions.
  • Staff Management:

    • Supervise and support nursing staff to ensure they meet performance and patient care standards.
    • Assist in the recruitment, orientation, and ongoing training of nursing personnel.
    • Provide mentorship and guidance to nursing staff, addressing concerns and improving performance.
    • Help in conducting performance evaluations and assist with disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Patient Care:

    • Ensure quality care is provided to patients and that all safety and health standards are followed.
    • Assist in developing patient care plans in collaboration with the clinical team.
    • Monitor patient care outcomes and work with staff to address any gaps or concerns.
  • Regulatory Compliance:

    • Ensure that the nursing department adheres to all healthcare regulations and standards.
    • Stay updated on changes in healthcare policies, regulations, and industry best practices.
    • Assist in preparing for inspections, audits, and other regulatory reviews.
  • Quality Improvement:

    • Help implement and monitor quality improvement initiatives in the nursing department.
    • Work closely with other departments to improve overall patient care quality and outcomes.
    • Participate in patient satisfaction surveys and act on feedback to improve service delivery.
  • Communication:

    • Serve as a liaison between the nursing department and other departments or stakeholders within the facility.
    • Foster effective communication between the nursing team, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
    • Assist in resolving patient or family concerns related to nursing care.
Qualifications:


  • Education:

    • Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid license.
    • Bachelors or Masters degree in Nursing or Healthcare Administration preferred.
  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 3-5 years of nursing experience, including supervisory or leadership roles.
    • Experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a long-term care, hospital, or similar environment.
  • Skills:

    • Strong knowledge of nursing practices, healthcare regulations, and patient care standards.
    • Leadership and team management skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication.
    • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.
    • Proficiency in healthcare management software and documentation systems.
Working Conditions:


  • Full-time position with possible on-call hours.
  • Work in a healthcare setting, including potential exposure to medical conditions, infectious diseases, and long hours.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Salary : $120,000
