What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teacher Assistant for Upper Elementary Grades 4-6 position at One World Montessori?
One World Montessori is looking for an energetic, positive, and loving Upper Elementary/Middle School Assistant who offers support, teamwork and versatility to the lead teacher, students, and school community. The candidate chosen for this position will be full-time and will be responsible for working cohesively and collaboratively with the lead teachers in an Upper Elementary (this classroom is comprised of students aged 9-12). The assistant helps the lead teacher with all classroom activities, particularly creating and making materials, maintaining classroom management, and maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly environment. Moreover, the assistant will supervise the children at recess and specials ensuring that all children are safe and assisting in appropriate conflict resolution strategies. Assistants at One World Montessori are encouraged to share their strengths and gifts with the school and its students. Please let us know if you have a personal interest in art, music, gardening, environmental education, foreign language, science and STEM, physical education, theater, robotics, sewing or handicrafts.
- Candidates should have a high school diploma, though an Associate’s Degree or higher is preferred.
- The ideal candidate will have at least 2-3 years of classroom experience or experience working with children.
- The candidate hired for this position must be a team play who is eager to learn and understands the importance of a positive, solutions-based work environment. The candidate should bring patience, warmth, and empathy to the classroom each day. He or she will make a commitment to teaching the whole child.
