Description
Shelter Managers are responsible providing shelter services to clients in One80 Place’s shelters. Shelter Managers are responsible for maintaining a safe, housing-focused, trauma informed environment as they work to support individuals and families who are homeless move to permanent housing. Shelter Managers ensure the safety of shelter clients by implementing, monitoring and enforcing shelter expectations and reporting any and all facility maintenance, IT or alarm issues.
The Shelter Manager is also responsible for serving as the point of contact for staff and client issues that may arise during each shift. The Shelter Manager will be crossed trained in both shelters and assist staff in either location during staff absences or shortages.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Intake Process and Acuity Confirmation:
1. Completes an initial needs assessment and acts upon critical needs appropriately and immediately.
2. Orients clients to the shelter programs by reviewing shelter expectations, schedules and goal of attaining permanent housing.
3. Completes appropriate intake documents as needed and assists to ensure intake process moves efficiently.
4. Identify clients who need to become housing document ready. Examples include, birth certificates, social security cards, income information, etc.
Client Engagement and Documentation Readiness:
1. Reviews and completes the Housing Services Agreement with shelter clients who choose to work towards permanent housing.
2. Assist clients in retrieving necessary documents for employment and housing. Examples include, birth certificates, social security cards, income information, etc.
3. Provide bus tickets for employed shelter clients.
4. Oversees the coordination of Shelter Assistants to assist clients with case plan goals.
5. As needed coordinates and engages clients in housing focused groups.
Recordkeeping and Reporting:
1. Document pertinent client information in HMIS. This includes client conversations, issues/concerns, progress towards housing goals and incidents.
2. Report critical incidents immediately to the Shelter Director. Critical incidents include exposure to environmental hazards, staff injury, death, etc.
3. Collects all required data necessary for funding and statistical reports.
4. Completes bed assignments in HMIS.
5. Report all facility maintenance, IT and alarm issues appropriately and timely. Staff should send all issues to either repairs@one80place.org or IT@one80place.org.
6. Report all needs for cleaning, laundry, meal preparation and effective operations to Operation Staff on duty.
7. Documents staff meetings, individual staff supervisions, staff performance issues or concerns and coordinates ongoing follow up with appropriate program staff.
Property Management:
1. Assures the safety of all One80 Place properties through frequent walk-throughs inspecting for any potential hazards, risks or unsafe conditions.
2. Reports any hazards to the Shelter Director, or Operations staff.
3. Reports all facility maintenance issues appropriately and timely. Staff should send all issues to either repairs@one80place.org or IT@one80place.org.
Teamwork and Collaboration:
1. Works in collaboration with shelter and all other One80 Place staff to facilitate a team environment.
2. Actively participates in monthly staff and team meetings and commits to group decisions.
3. Role models effective team behavior.
4. Demonstrates effective communication skills in building relationships with all One80 Place employees, volunteers, vendors, Board of Director’s, and clients.
5. Report to the assigned shift on time, well-groomed, and in uniform.
6. Substitutes for other staff when the need arises.
Manager Duties:
1. Responsible for ensuring efficient operations during times of high activity within the shelters, such as intake, meals and check-in process.
2. Act as the decision-maker when clients are asked to leave the shelter due to behaviors that are harmful or potentially harmful to the safe operations of the shelter.
3. Provide coaching, training and guidance to staff as needed.
4. Coordinates with Clinic and Housing programs to ensure clients are being engaged effectively to accomplish case planning goals.
5. Oversees the coordination of Shelter Assistants to target specific clients to accomplish case plan goals.
6. Work with Shelter Director to develop and implement additional supportive services that can be offered to increase positive client exits.
7. Act as the point of contact for client, staff and volunteer issues and escalates to Shelter Director as appropriate.
8. Provide coverage at shelters as needed or call other staff to come in.
9. Ensure new client intakes are conducted and completed in their entirety.
10. As needed coordinates and engages clients in housing focused groups.
11. Coordinate monthly fire drills.
12. Assist Shelter Director to ensure that shelter operates in compliance at all times within established guidelines, policies and requirements.
13. Conducts individual supervision with staff as well as monthly team meetings.
Other Duties:
1. Performs other relevant duties assigned by supervisor or other One80 Place management staff.

Requirements
1. Bachelors degree in a human services related field, or equivalent experience.
2. Experience working with those experiencing homelessness or similar population.
3. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
4. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as an effective team member.
5. Ability to deal effectively with conflict and crisis in a calm manner to bring about a positive resolution.
6. Able and willing to work rotating shifts (eg. overnight, day and evening) as well as holidays and weekends.
