Description

The Director of Finance will lead all OneChild financial operations and assure financial integrity while maximizing financial resources to the global field in order to deliver mission impact. This position leads, stewards, and oversees all aspects of OneChild’s financial operations including daily financial operations, month end close, fiscal year budgeting for both US and international field staff, financial audits, financial statements, accounts payable/check processing, expense and cash management, comply and maintain ECFA regulations, and external reporting including 990 tax returns, Form 5500, and financial accreditations. Streamline, automate and optimize operations to ensure sustainability and impact. This position will define and maintain the financial models associated with future OneChild business models and potential operating structures. This position plays a key role across departments, partnering with the executive team to align financial strategy with mission delivery and supporting a culture of transparency, accountability and continuous improvement.

This candidate will require a comprehensive skill set including non-profit and restricted fund account management, expert NetSuite user, reserves monitoring, financial institution management, and working with leadership to maximize program expense percentage while ensuring financial integrity and transparency within the mission. The candidate must have strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to manage details while effectively communicating at the executive level and present to the Board of Directors. A solution minded, collaborative, growth and learning mindset is essential for this role. The candidate is expected to closely collaborate with the Executive team and with other areas of OneChild to act as their financial consultant.

  • Lead all aspects of OneChild’s financial and accounting functions, systems, and people, including project prioritization and management, budget ownership, while instilling a solution-minded and forward-thinking culture within the finance and accounting team.
  • Functions as the key customer interface between the finance team and OneChild’s departments to ensure the highest levels of service are provided while maintaining financial integrity for the organization.
  • Collaborate with Bridgely team (dba under OneChild) supporting and providing financial support and guidance.
  • Interface closely with and act as an advocate for OneChild’s global program team in the field. Work closely with OneChild field offices and Field Ministry Partners around the world to act as their finance consultant.
  • Lead a dynamic team and enhance workflow processes while maximizing financial resources to the internal team and the field.
  • Streamline and automate processes for efficiency
  • Manages the day-to-day operations of OneChild’s financial portfolio including accounting and budgeting applications, external audits, financial institutions and external partners, restricted close and financial reporting.
  • Ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements, including state registrations, corporate insurance and operational compliance, while maintaining alignment with external laws and regulations.
  • Fulfill other duties as directed by VP of Operations and other leadership as necessary.

Managerial Breadth/Scope of Job

Supervisory responsibilities relate to the personnel of OneChild Finance and Accounting Team. In addition, engage and manage outside contractors and vendors to complete tasks and projects as needed.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Lead day-to-day finance and accounting functions, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. Able to work effectively in managing a team environment with a positive attitude and cooperative spirit.
  • Ensure accurate and compliant management of restricted, designated, and grant funds in accordance with donor intent and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare timely monthly, quarterly and annual finance statements and dashboards for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Evaluate and implement automation solutions to streamline workflows (e.g. AP/AR, expense management, reconciliation).
  • Maintain internal controls and financial policies to safeguard organizational assets and ensure audit readiness.
  • Oversee, prepare, and participate in annual audit, Form 990, Form 5500, and compliance with GAAP, FASB, ECFA, and relevant non-profit regulations.
  • Proven people and project management skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills for building and maintaining rapport and satisfaction with internal and external relationships.
  • Proven organizational skills and ability to act upon the most urgent needs with flexibility in order to achieve ministry-wide goals and objectives.
  • Strong judgment and analytical abilities with proven problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Considerable ingenuity and judgment to solve complex problems
  • Maturity to handle ministry-wide financial and employee information with discretion.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
  • CPA designation preferred.
  • Non-profit accounting experience highly preferred.
  • Restricted/Designated fund management experience highly preferred
  • Expert in NetSuite system required.
  • Familiar with payment processors such as Stripe, Zeffy, Nuvei and related
  • Experience in following practices such as GAAP, FASB, state of CO, and other nonprofit regulations.
  • Prepare and present quarterly financial reports and metrics to OneChild Board of Directors.
  • Familiar with Charity Navigator to ensure organization’s financial transparency and accountability to ensure organization’s score attracts and retains funding.
  • Minimum 7 years' experience in nonprofit financial management, including fund accounting.
  • Expert user of Microsoft Office suite
  • Minimum 5 years at Director level and leading people required.

Working Environment/Physical Requirements

This role follows a 3/2 hybrid model with three days in-office weekly and allows up to two days with flexibility to work remotely if desired. Keyboarding and desk work for long periods of time. Light physical effort with occasional lifting of 10-20lbs. Some after-hours and weekend work may occasionally be required.

$110,000 - $120,000 per year
