What are the responsibilities and job description for the RN - PRE-ADMIT - PRN position at OneCore Health?
Overall Responsibility:
Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and coordinating patient care from admission to discharge. Responsible for the achievement of patient outcomes through implementation of critical pathways and in accordance with the mission of OneCore Health.
Key tasks and responsibilities (essential functions):
- Explains procedures and treatments to patient to gain cooperation, understanding and allay apprehension.
- Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess condition of patient.
- Documents nursing history and physical assessment for assigned patients
- Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of patient.
- Observes patient, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisor or physician of patient's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.
- Responds to life saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures and protocol.
- Interacts with all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees in a mature, responsible manner to ensure a positive and professional environment.
Licensure and Certification: Current RN Licensure with the State. BCLS required, if not currently ACLS trained, then must obtain ACLS training within 6 months of hire. PALS preferred.
Experience/Education: 1-2 years experience in A Surgery Hospital or Hospital setting preferred. Graduate of nursing program.
Environmental and physical requirements - Requires physical ability for long term standing, occasional sitting, crouching, kneeling, frequent walking, reaching with reaching above head and below waist. The employee must be able to read, write and speak English fluently, have cognitive skills for math, reading, filing and sterile technique skills. Requires communication skills to deal well with employees, patients, families and physicians. Vision for near, mid-range, far and accommodation. Hearing for low, medium, and high pitch. Job risk include exposure to blood and body fluids (high), contact with laser and chemicals, lifting of 30 - 75 pounds, and exposure to infectious disease.
