Job Summary:
The Operations Monitoring Engineer will be responsible for monitoring the technical performance of the Equipment as well develop into a subject matter expert in at least one of our products.
This position is suitable for an Engineer looking to grow and acquire unique technical skills in SMR hydrogen generation technology, state-of-the-art compression, distribution, and hydrogen dispensing technology.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor Equipment performance, repairs and maintenance, utilization and under-utilized equipment, and all asset movement.
- Learn Equipment parameters and be able to carry out real-time adjustments to optimize equipment uptime.
- Carry out repairs or assist in repairs of specific equipment.
- Develop and track performance indicators through effective benchmarking.
- Ensure that process records and other quality documents are faithfully and timely executed, reviewed, and retained as permanent records.
- Develop, maintain, and update operations, contingency, and emergency plans.
- Lead initiatives to continuously improve safety, quality, and operations.
- Support day-to-day operations.
- Arrange schedules, deliveries & pickup, communicate with techs, and supervise process fulfillment activities.
- Be willing to receive training and provide cover for techs and operators in various processes.
- Contribute to Process Safety activities (e.g., process risk analysis).
- Identify, develop, and lead the implementation of systems & procedures to optimize processes across Operations.
- Work closely with other teams on developing critical-to-quality (CTQ) & critical to cost (CTC) metrics, root cause analysis (RCA), and corrective actions for yield improvements.
- Perform duties relating to installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining hydrogen generation, compression and fueling systems.
- Perform troubleshooting, identification of root cause(s), and implementation of corrective action plans to mitigate station performance issues.
- Fueling of high-pressure H2 storage and transportation systems.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and other duties as assigned to safeguard operations update.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science/Master of Science in Engineering or related technical fields (MSc preferred).
- 0-3 industrial years' experience.
- Experience with principles and operation of mechanical equipment such as pumps, valves, solenoids, filters, and compressors preferred.
- Ability to train and mentor employees.
- Strong math aptitude to perform flow, pressure, performance, and meter calculations.
- Ability to read and comprehend safety data sheets, P&IDs, flow diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
- Experience with permit-to-work, hazard assessment, and risk management processes preferred.
- Must be able to work at heights and climb stairs and ladders.
- Ability to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines.
- Must be able to work overtime, weekends, shifts, and holidays if necessary and/or be able to work long periods and/or be flexible.
- Must be able to lift and move up to a minimum of 50 lbs., unassisted.
- Ability to think outside the box and invent the wheel when needed.
- Experience in a startup environment (preferred but not required).
- Ability to adapt and learn in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
