DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: The work involves responsibility for assisting in oversight
of the development and implementation of the County’s disease control program. The incumbent assists in
case investigations, assists in epidemiological investigations, surveillance, and studies, and provides health
information to the public. The work is performed under the direct supervision of the Director of Clinic
Services with leeway allowed for exercise of independent judgment. The incumbent performs related duties
as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must meet the minimum qualifications at time of application.
Either:
(A) Possession of Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Biology, Health or Public Administration, Health
Science, Epidemiology, Public Health, Biostatistics or a closely related field AND one (1) year of
experience conducting data collection, analysis and reporting in support of surveillance and
epidemiologic investigations; OR
(B) Possession of Associate’s degree in Nursing, Biology, Health or Public Administration, Health
Science, Epidemiology, Public Health, Biostatistics or a closely related field AND three (3) years of
experience conducting data collection, analysis and reporting in support of surveillance and
epidemiologic investigations.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Candidates must possess a valid NYS Driver's License at the time of
appointment and maintenance of said license for the duration of appointment.
NOTES:
1. Candidate MUST submit copy of transcripts showing degree area and date degree conferred with
application.
2. A Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, Nursing, Biology, Biostatistics, Health or Public
Administration, Health Science or a closely related field may be substituted for the experience as
noted above.
3. Degree(s) must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national,
or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of
Education/U.S. Secretary of Education. If the degree was awarded by an educational institution
outside the United States and its territories, the candidate must provide independent verification of
equivalency. A list of acceptable companies who provide this service can be found on the Internet

fee.
4. Verifiable part-time experience will be pro-rated toward meeting full-time experience requirements.
