What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Technician position at Oneida ESC Group?
Sustainment & Restoration Services (SRS) is an 8(a) firm that provides engineering, science, construction, munitions, and specialized professional services solutions for customers nationwide.
SRS has an immediate opening for a Part Time as Needed Environmental Technician in Warner Robins, GA.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with Project Manager and technical team for all assigned work; understand project quality objectives and commitment to quality and safety in execution of all assigned duties and tasks.
- Pre-field preparation for projects including review of work plans and safety plans, identification and procurement of equipment and materials required for the job, attendance at team meetings as needed, and other duties as assigned.
- Assist with environmental site investigation field activities, which may include the following:
- Scheduling/procurement of vendors and subcontractors.
- Obtaining permits.
- Field oversight, to include utility marking and clearing activities, drilling, well development, land surveying, and waste management (as applicable).
- Perform environmental sampling activities, including review of sampling and analysis plans (SAP), collection of samples (soil, groundwater, soil vapor), and sample tracking. Specific duties include:
- Use field instrumentation (i.e., PID, YSI, Horiba, turbidity meter, water level meter).
- Conduct soil, sediment, surface water, and groundwater sampling activities.
- Detailed record keeping of daily field activities.
- Monitor the Shipment and Delivery of all field samples including reviewing laboratory documentation of sample condition upon receipt.
- Quality control checks to ensure SAP requirements are met, chain-of-custody forms are correctly and completely filled out, sample IDs are correctly cross-referenced to sample locations.
- Ability to Travel, approximately 75% of the time within middle Georgia.
Site Safety and Health:
- Conduct and/or participate in daily safety tailgate meetings during field events; completes daily heavy equipment inspection checklists (as applicable); and monitors safety procedures for traffic control during work on city streets.
- Perform routine inspection of first aid, personal protective equipment, and emergency response supplies.
- Implement all safety requirements included in Site Safety and Health Plan (SSHP or HASP) and maintains records of personnel certifications and hazardous materials inventory.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3 years of experience as an Environmental Field Technician
- Knowledge of groundwater and soil sampling techniques
- Competency at reading plans and specifications, and following manufacturer’s operating manuals or SOPs, and researching manufacturer’s manuals online.
- Experience with hazardous waste characterization, transportation, storage, and disposal
- Solid communication and teamwork skills; detail-oriented
- Competency in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe
- Certifications: 40-hour OSHA Health and Safety (HAZWOPER) Training and current 8-hour refresher; and First Aid and CPR
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree or a Bachelor's degree in science or engineering-related field
- 30-Hour OSHA Construction Safety and Health; 8-Hour OSHA Supervisor
- Preferred applicant will be local to job location (Warner Robins or middle Georgia area)
Compensation Range:$21-27/hr
