What are the responsibilities and job description for the Thesis Processor position at Oneida ESC Group?
Oneida Professional Services (OPS) is actively seeking a highly motivated, full-time Thesis Processor to work in a small team of thesis processors and with graduate students from STEM, social science, and management fields at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA.
Key Responsibilities:
- Format and edit academic publications using advanced features of MS Word and Adobe Acrobat.
- Ensure these academic publications meet established formatting, style, compliance, and academic integrity requirements.
- Communicate editing, formatting, grammar, punctuation, citation styles, and proper attribution requirements to graduate students primarily in one-to-one, informal meetings or via email.
- Collaborate with team members to reach mutual goals and NPS deadlines.
- Develop data-management systems for tracking projects, including managing workload to meet turnaround times and deadlines.
- Use originality-check software, such as Turnitin or iThenticate, following established procedures and principles.
- Manage projects.
Minimum Qualifications:
- U.S. citizenship
- Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communication, rhetoric, international or public policy, or writing-intensive field from an accredited university.
- Minimum bachelor’s degree GPA of 3.25.
- At least three years of experience formatting and editing academic or professional publications using advanced features of MS Word.
- Demonstrated strong knowledge of:
- English-language, academic-writing fundamentals, including organization, structure, grammar, writing conventions and styles, punctuation, word choice, parallelism, paraphrasing, signal phrasing, quoting, and citing
- Diverse academic norms, such as multiple citation styles, data presentation in a variety of fields, formatting of publication, and components of academic publications
- Academic standards, such as the importance of academic honor codes
- Exceptional computer skills for word processing, presentations, and file sharing.
- Experience teaching editing, formatting, grammar, punctuation, citation styles, and proper attribution practices.
- Evidence of strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Production of original creative work involving editing or writing.
- Experience creating PowerPoint presentations, educational materials, or webpages.
- Experience using data-management systems for tracking projects.
- Experience using originality-check software, such as Turnitin or iThenticate.
Compensation Range: $31-36/hour Benefits
