Charge RN/Admission Nurse
Job Summary:
As a Charge RN/Admission Nurse at Oneida Health, you will work under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, responsible for processing all inpatient admissions. Your role is crucial in ensuring accurate, current, and complete patient data capture at the time of admission, thereby enhancing the integrity of the electronic health record.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process all inpatient admissions and ensure accurate documentation per admission policy.
- Complete and update patient information, including medical history, allergies, medications, and clinical conditions.
- Verify completeness of information regarding patient's Advance Directives and ensure documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Initiate appropriate isolation requirements and safety measures based on patient history or condition.
- Review physician admission orders and ensure timely action.
- Obtain complete lists of patient medications and allergies through communication with physician offices and pharmacies.
- Order necessary referrals from ancillary departments as indicated during the admission process.
- Assist in the development and initiation of discharge plans in collaboration with patients, families, caregivers, and the healthcare team.
- Interpret organizational policies relevant to admission for patients and families, providing necessary education during the admission process.
- Communicate patient needs effectively to the charge nurse and ensure smooth handoff with the patient's nurse.
- Review admissions completed by nurses on off shifts, identifying errors, omissions, or trends, and providing feedback for improvement.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy during the admission process.
- Evaluate admission processes, procedures, and forms, making recommendations for improvement to the Directors of Nursing.
- Participate in patient discharges and transfers by completing necessary forms and documentation.
- Assist Unit Nurse Managers in daily nursing assessments and perform other duties as assigned, including serving as a unit Medication nurse or Charge Nurse when required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and perform nursing duties for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity and visual acuity for patient care tasks and documentation.
- Capability to lift and move patients as necessary.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Education:
- Current licensure as an RN.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (Preferred).
Experience:
- Minimum of two (2) years of previous medical/surgical nursing or long-term care nursing experience.
- Previous experience in computerized admission processes preferred.
Licenses and Certification:
- Current RN licensure in the state of practice.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Preferred).

Salary : $34 - $45
