Job Summary:
The CT/Rad Technologist position involves performing diagnostic medical examinations of patients using computerized tomography and X-ray equipment. Work is performed under the general direction of a Supervising CT and X-ray Technologist with leeway allowed for the exercise of independent judgment in carrying out technical details of the position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Complete patient education regarding examination and procedures.
- Promote privacy and comfort for patients during their time in the hospital.
- Perform CT scans and X-ray exams efficiently and timely in compliance with departmental, hospital, and regulatory agency standards.
- Record appropriate files as assigned.
- Assist Radiologists with biopsies and drainages.
- Schedule patients in cooperation with Radiologists, referring physician offices, and nursing units.
- Maintain imaging equipment and suite in a clean, neat, and orderly condition.
Qualifications
Education:
- Graduate of an approved program for Radiologic Technology (Required)
License and Certifications:
- ARRT and NYS license. (Required)
- BLS (Preferred)
Experience:
- Previous experience in a similar role preferred.
Professional Skills and Abilities:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in patient positioning and imaging techniques.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, medical staff, and other team members.
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining CT equipment.
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining X-ray equipment
- Knowledge of radiation safety procedures and protocols.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods and move heavy equipment.
- Manual dexterity and attention to detail required for positioning patients and operating machinery.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with exposure to cleaning chemicals and disinfectants.
