Summary :
This position is responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating the financial and safety risks that face the Oneida Nation. This position will be responsible for directing the insurance programs, the, management of claims and loss control activities, management of relationships with third party service providers including brokers, insurers and other TPAs. Incumbent will be expected to prepare loss analyses and budgets, identify exposures, recommend solutions, implement approved programs, and promote risk mitigation.
Responsibilities :
- Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers with professionalism.
- Maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with staff, management, and vendors.
- Improve staff effectiveness by counseling, training, and recommending disciplinary action for employees; planning, delegating, monitoring, and appraising job tasks and results in a timely manner.
- Host regular staff meetings to ensure communication with personnel and risk management strategies.
- Implement the most cost-effective use of resources in the selection of the risk financing techniques.
- Provide analysis and recommendation of potential insurance programs of the Oneida Nation.
- Analyze the impact from changes to local, state, and federal statutes. Implement changes as needed.
- Schedule, coordinate and review findings of consultants and results of required audits. Make changes to comply with audit findings.
- Review contracts and agreements for persons and / or entities providing services and recommend changes deemed appropriate to the Nation's insurance requirements.
- Manages insurance procurement, develops, and implements risk management and compliance policies / procedures and manages claims and litigation.
- Manages relationships with third party service providers including brokers, underwriters, and other third-party administrators.
- Evaluates and provides recommendation regarding design and selection of policies, including but not limited to Property, Casualty, General Liability, and Cyber-risk policies.
- Coordinates and submits, as necessary, annual insurance policy renewal data.
- Partners with all departments in the preparation, submission, and completion of all property, casualty, liability, cyber incident reports, claims, and losses.
- Works cooperatively and collaboratively with Vendor Licensing and internal departments in the request and review of required certificates of insurance
- In collaboration with the Oneida Law Office, assists in the investigation, response, and resolution to all liability claims.
- Ensures timely notification of all claims to insurance carriers.
- Serve as member of the Oneida Local Emergency Planning Committee.
- Complete projects assigned by the CFO.
