What are the responsibilities and job description for the Geologist Internship - Santa Barbara position at Oneida Oneida ESC Group?
The Oneida ESC Group (OESC) is a family of companies owned by the Oneida Nation of Wisconsin (Nation) who work together to deliver technical solutions in the areas of hydrogeology, remedial, civil and transportation engineering, construction and demolition, munitions response and range clearance and ecological, biological, and natural resource evaluations.
SRS has an immediate opening for part time Geologist Internship in our Santa Barbara office for the Summer of 2025 (May or June start date).
Typical Job Duties May Include Assisting with:
- Supporting Project Managers with project coordination, fieldwork preparation, draft work plans, reports, and other technical documents.
- Field visits to observe and partake in soil and groundwater sample collection, construction, and operating systems and to collect performance data.
- Review of subcontractor/vendor technical specifications, selection, and procurement.
- Preparation of cost estimates for various environmental activities.
- Supporting development of engineering design, plans and specifications, and performance criteria.
- Permit preparation and compliance tracking for State of California and Federal air and water discharge permits.
- Compiling, evaluating, and analyzing remedial system performance data.
- Review of analytical laboratory data and data validation support.
- Learning and facilitating Oneidas safety culture.
Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in a four-year accredited university pursuing a degree in geological sciences.
- Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to work independently and in a project team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with AutoCAD, ArcGIS and/or MS Projects a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER Training Preferred
