Job Type: Per Diem; Required 1 day per pay period
Work Hours: 12-hour shift. 8pm-8am

Summary of Functions:
The Registered Nurse – Per diem is responsible for providing direct donor care in the Donor Care Unit (DCU). The registered nurse is expected to competently perform the donor care responsibilities of the registered nurse within the assigned work setting. The Registered Nurse’s responsibility is with direct donor care under the supervision of the organ procurement medical director and assigned PTC staff. The responsibilities include the systematic collection and assessment of data in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to provide therapeutic interventions required to maximize organ potential. The clinical element requires direct care, with an emphasis on assessment, resuscitation, and physiologic management. The Registered Nurse implements the medical treatment regimen to meet the assessed needs of the donor in accordance with established medical protocols, policies & procedures, and goals of OneLegacy. The Registered Nurse will identify and support the psychosocial needs of donor families and loved ones with direct aid from OneLegacy family support teams. Administrative, training, and regulatory responsibilities are included within this vital role at OneLegacy.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Essential Job Functions:
Clinical Practice – Provision of professional nursing care with donors and families
1. Systematically assess the needs of the donor through observation and physical assessment.
2. Skillfully uses the range of equipment, medication and other modalities, such as CPR, as well as the procedural and educational resources pertinent to assigned work area. Demonstrates knowledge of purpose and expected outcomes.
3. Hemodynamic monitoring, medication compounding and administration. Routine lab drawings and point of care testing. General bedside nursing care.
4. Establishes and enhances relationships with donor families visiting at either OneLegacy facility in conjunction with the assigned PTC and Family Support Services.
5. Accesses and reviews the referring hospital’s medical records charts. Transcribe appropriate information to digitalDONOR fields per OneLegacy policies and practices.
6. Consults with assigned PTC and intensivist team to evaluate current organ function and identify early stages of medical derangements and current organ function.
7. Formulates a treatment plan in conjunction with the assigned PTC and at the direction of the Medical Director of Organ procurement. Advocates on behalf of potential donors and their families for interventions needed to preserve the opportunity for donation and optimize organ function.
8. Performs administrative duties regarding the patient, such as completing digitalDONOR charting, as well as any other forms or documentation required per OneLegacy documentation policies.
9. Maintains established policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control.
OneLegacy Recovery Center Responsibilities:
The Registered Nurse will maintain proficiency and competency in all organ operations at the OneLegacy’s Recovery Center, Appendix A.
Personnel Functions:
1. Maintains professional conduct at all times with both internal and external customers.
2. Cooperates with other personnel to achieve company objectives and maintains good employee, interdepartmental and public relations.
3. Meets with and solicits advice from the Medical Director(s), Director of Organ Clinical Operations, Supervisor, Donor Management, SOP (Supervisor on call), OTL (Organ Team Lead), Transplant Centers, Attending Physicians, and Nursing Staff concerning donor patient care.
4. Maintains an effective and friendly working relationship with health professionals, physicians, consultants and family members involved in every donation process.
Work Schedule Responsibility:
1. Shares schedule responsibility with other assigned Registered Nurses (One shift per pay period minimum requirement).
2. Additional work time and shifts are assigned, as needed, to uphold OneLegacy’s mission.
3. Gives verbal report to oncoming OneLegacy staff when assignment is completed.
4. Carries OneLegacy issued electronic devices and appropriate case materials on scheduled work shifts and ensure that all equipment is working properly.
5. Enables and ensures location services on OneLegacy issued devices work properly during scheduled shifts.
Other Responsibilities:
1. Stays professionally current as required for assigned job function, certification or licensure.
2. Complies with all UNOS policies, standards and requirements.
3. Attends staff meetings and scheduled trainings unless on call or post-call

Job Qualifications and Requirements
Education: Bachelor's Degree (BSN): Preferred
Experience: Acute care facility experience: Preferred, 1 year of Critical Care experience: Required
Required Licenses/Certifications: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification: Required, Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice: Required
Salary Range - $70 p/h
