We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic individual to join our progressive Montessori school as a Full-time High School Counselor with administrative experience. This unique position combines the responsibilities of providing comprehensive counseling services to high school students while also managing operational aspects of the school to ensure smooth daily functioning. This role is pivotal in supporting our students' academic, social-emotional, and personal growth within a nurturing and innovative educational environment.
Responsibilities:
Counseling and Student Support:
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions to high school students, addressing academic, personal, and social issues.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to support students' well-being and academic success.
- Offer guidance on college and career planning, including application processes, scholarships, and vocational opportunities.
- Implement programs and workshops focused on mental health, stress management, conflict resolution, and other relevant topics.
- Develop and update student Educational Plans.
Administrative leadership:
- Oversee daily operations of the high school division, ensuring efficient logistical coordination.
- Manage school schedules, facilities, and resources to support academic and extracurricular activities.
- Coordinate with administrative staff on admissions, enrollment, and student records management.
- Maintain communication with vendors, contractors, and service providers to ensure operational needs are met.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance school operations and compliance with regulatory standards.
Community Engagement and Collaboration:
- Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and staff through effective communication and support.
- Organize and participate in parent conferences, meetings, and school events to promote a collaborative educational environment.
- Engage in professional development opportunities to stay current with counseling practices and educational trends.
- Contribute to the school's strategic planning initiatives and participate in committees as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in School Counseling, Counseling Psychology, or related field.
- State certification or licensure as a school counselor preferred.
- Proven experience in counseling high school students, preferably in an educational setting.
- Strong organizational and managerial skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Knowledge of Montessori principles and progressive education practices is preferred.
