What You’ll Do:

  • Engage in exciting instrumentation and electrical projects with our supportive team.
  • Work alongside seasoned professionals, contributing to tasks such as data analysis, report preparation, and compliance activities.
  • Support presentations, training sessions, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
  • Gain insights into safety, regulatory requirements, and technical operations in a dynamic environment.
  • Assist with the installation, operation, and maintenance of instrumentation such as transmitters, transducers, fire and gas detectors, gas analyzers, and flow computers.
  • Maintain ESD and safety interlock systems (SIS) with scheduled testing.
  • Support the maintenance and operation of analytical equipment, SCADA systems, remote terminal units, DCS, and PLC systems.
  • Maintain and test operation technology (OT) networks and network equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance and analytical testing on compressors, engines, drivers, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Maintain low and medium voltage electrical power circuits, switchgear, and power distribution systems.
  • Maintain and prepare reports and records, including maintenance and repair logs, safety and environmental reports, mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, pressure readings, material orders, and loop sheets.

  • High school diploma required and must be at least 18 years old.

  • Basic understanding of instrumentation and electrical principles is a plus.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Willingness to drive to various site locations in the state on a regular basis.
  • Have a current driver’s license, good driving record, and willing to complete the Smith System Driver Training during your internship.

Job Profile Summary

Based on area of assignment interns provide field support in a variety of functional areas inclusive of: Pipeline Operations, Pipeline Integrity, Mechanical Integrity, Mechanical Maintenance; Measurement, Corrosion, Instrumentation, Plant Operations, Construction as well as other related disciplines.

With supportive guidance and mentoring Interns are provided the opportunity to engage to obtaining first-hand knowledge and experience.

Internships are designed to augment college learning by further educating students in teamwork, problem solving skills, work ethics, adaptability, communication, responsibility, time management, organization, perseverance and motivation as well as commercial awareness and business acumen.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

  • Assist in a wide range of responsibilities inclusive of job shadowing, preparing reports, analyzing data, learning about various operational, technical, and/or business-related compliance, regulatory, and/or technical components.
  • Assist with development of presentations, trainings, knowledge sharing, and/or other administrative responsibilities
  • Responsibilities may include Department of Transportation (DOT) covered functions, including operations, maintenance, or emergency response on a pipeline. Job duties also require the employee to be alert and respond immediately to dangerous or hazardous conditions, and where impaired performance, or failure to follow safety precautions, could result in serious injury or property damage.

  • The candidate should be currently pursuing a certificate or degree relevant to the internship field
