The primary duties of the Wellness Lead are to accurately order products, receive shipments and stock shelves, all while providing exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate has a history of reliability, strong customer service skills, is capable of multi-tasking and wants to learn and teach about the items we carry and the mission of our organization! They must exhibit a high level of self motivation to learn and work independently. We are looking to hire an individual that can offer stellar customer service to anyone and everyone. Expect to enjoy working in a fast paced retail environment because we love to set goals and have fun meeting them.

Starting Wage: $15.00/hr Full-Time (minimum of 30 hours per week).

  • This position will require the ability to work most weekends.

Wellness Lead - Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Wellness Lead works in conjunction with the Wellness Manager to maintain displays, coolers, and shelves for the Wellness department. This includes ensuring orders are placed and checked in according to receiving protocols as well as fully stocking, rotating, and facing products on a continuous basis. In addition, this position is required to maintain basic cashier skills to ensure successful and accurate customer service at the register. All OCC staff are responsible for providing welcoming, friendly, helpful, and non-judgmental customer service to all shoppers and co-workers in accordance with our organizational goals and programs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Customer Service

  • Maintains familiarity with all areas of the store to best assist customers and staff.
  • Upholds the Code of Conduct.
  • Always use S.E.T. (Smile, Engage and Thank You) in all customer interactions.
  • Become familiar with the Co-op mission, Ends, and policies to answer customer questions. Refer unresolved questions or problems to appropriate staff.
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge about nutritional supplement and body care products, brands, and uses.
  • Adheres to DSHEA (Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act) and FDA (Food and Drug Administration) legal standards of customer service.

Department Maintenance & Expectations

  • Always stock product – timely, accurately, rotated, attractive.
  • Understand the basics of ordering for UNFI and other vendors for the Wellness department.
  • Follow established procedures for ordering, receiving, credits, and invoice coding.
  • Followed established procedures for department special orders and billing.
  • Ensure signage is correct, attractive, and informative.
  • Assist in maintaining appropriate shrink records.
  • Update pricing as instructed by Wellness Manager.
  • Correct price discrepancies according to established policies.
  • Understand record keeping in the POS system.
  • Proficient in opening and closing tasks for the Wellness department.
  • Ensure that unsellable items are returned or otherwise properly disposed of, following established protocols.
  • Ensure that department areas (aisles, shelves, bins, and storage areas) are kept in clean and orderly condition.
  • Maintain basic operations of the department in the absence of the manager.
  • Flexibility in schedule to assist as primary fill-in for Wellness Manager on planned absences.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by Wellness Manager or General Manager.

Cashiering

  • Greet customers and process transactions accurately through the Point of Sale (POS) system.
  • Offer bagging and carryout assistance as needed.
  • Make change from the cash box for the registers.
  • Fully understand all Co-op programs, including Double Up Food Bucks, Round Up at the Register, Co op Deals, Co op Basics, Oneota Sales, and Owner Appreciation Days.
  • Diligently work to memorize and learn commonly used PLU numbers, product names, and other means of ringing up items.
  • Count change back to customer.
  • Understand the process and benefits of Co-op ownership/membership.

GENERAL PRACTICES:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including verbal and written instructions.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision but possess excellent team skills.
  • Willingness and ability to grow to meet the changing requirements of the job.
  • Understand the cooperative principles and business model.
  • Respond to challenging situations in a positive and professional manner.
  • Demonstrate regular, predictable work attendance and communicate to the supervisor and/or GM any work schedule changes.
  • Demonstrate a willingness and ability to cooperate and communicate with co-workers and/or outside contacts in a timely and appropriate manner.
