POSITION SUMMARY
As Benefits Specialist you will provide consistent and effective day-to-day support of assigned benefit programs and act as point of contact for benefits. You will assist corporate and field employee on benefits matters.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Functions as a liaison between employees, and advise employees on eligibility, coverage and other benefit matters.
- Mentor and support employees needing assistance with enrollment system.
- Acts as a point of contact for benefits department; responding timely and acting upon inquiries to phones calls and ticketing system submission
- Responsible for the administration of new hire enrollment and qualified life event enrollment in benefits administration system.
- Responsible for processing and responding to medical child support notices and court orders.
- Open enrollment activities, communications and various administrative duties as assigned.
- Interpret plan documents and apply plan rules consistently.
- Interface with vendors for eligibility issues, flexible spending accounts, Health Savings Accounts, COBRA enrollment administration.
- Partner with Payroll in maintaining accurate/deduction earnings data with Open Enrollment load and follow up comparison as needed.
- Assist team with administrative functions and projects as assigned.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of departmental issues and documentation and abides by HIPAA regulations.
- Research benefit/payroll issues and resolve.
- Review and coordinate invoice benefit billing activity as necessary.
- Acts as back up for other team members as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5 years benefits administration experience including systems implementation.
- Knowledge of Federal and state compliance requirements.
- Ability to communicate benefits information at all levels.
- Proficiency in using online benefits administration and HRIS systems, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to work independently with the flexibility to adapt to a changing environment.
- Ability to manage sensitive confidential issues and information.
- Maintain awareness of changing regulatory requirements of benefits.
