POSITION SUMMARY
Fiberglass & Gel Coat Technicians are responsible for repairing fiberglass cosmetic and gel coat damage. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail along with experience in fiberglass and gel coat work.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties (Most Important to Least Important) |
Identify defects such as: cracks, blisters, stress fractures and cosmetic flaws. Prep fiberglass, resins, and damaged areas for repair. |
Grind out defective areas, smooth rough edges/areas by using appropriate power or hand-tools. Shape and smooth edges to match contour properly. |
Mix Gel coat catalyst and spray or brush repaired surfaces; match colors. Buff and polish repaired surfaces. |
Estimate repair times, plan for materials, coordinate jobs with management. Maintain accurate records of repairs, materials used, and time spent on projects. |
Collaborate with team members and provide guidance or support as needed. |
Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to company policies and OSHA standards |
Stay updated on industry techniques and materials. |
Any other duties as assigned. |

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
- 2 years of experience as a fiberglass specialist. Maritime experience preferred
- 2 years of experience in Gel Coat repair
- Additional training or certifications in marine repair or fiberglass work is preferred
