Job Overview
As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities or special needs. Your primary focus will be to provide compassionate care and support, ensuring that each resident's personal and medical needs are met in a respectful and dignified manner. This position requires a commitment to fostering independence while promoting the overall well-being of those you serve.
Schedule:
2 days a week for 4 hours each day (early afternoon hours)
*Opportunity for more hours by working with multiple clients*
Duties
- Assists individuals in learning and developing new skills that will enhance opportunities for independence and inclusion. Support may occur in the home of the individual, or out in the community.
- Assists with attaining independence goals as described in the individual’s ISP to progress with their independence as adults.
- Produces accurate documentation of the services delivered. Documents care provided and response of the consumer/family. Submits time sheets and all other documentation in a timely manner.
- Performs all duties in an ethical manner and in compliance with local, state and federal laws, Medicare/Medicaid regulations and established personnel policies and procedures, including confidentiality and HIPAA guidelines.
Skills
- Previous experience in direct support or patient care is preferred but not required.
- Strong observational skills to effectively monitor participant well-being and report changes accurately.
- Proficient in providing direct support tailored to individual needs.
- Knowledge of resident rights and advocacy for individuals with disabilities.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with residents, families, and team members.
- Compassionate demeanor with a strong commitment to enhancing the lives of those you support.
