Overview: OneWell is a dynamic and mission-driven organization dedicated to supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in achieving meaningful employment and greater independence. We are seeking a compassionate, proactive, and resourceful individual to join our team as an IDD Employment Specialist.
Position Summary: As an Employment Specialist, you will play a key role in assisting individuals with IDD to secure and maintain employment in their community. You will oversee employment support professionals supporting the clients we serve. You will work closely with clients, families, employers, and other stakeholders to develop tailored employment plans, provide job coaching, and foster inclusive workplace environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client Assessment: Conduct comprehensive assessments to understand clients’ strengths, interests, and employment goals.
- Job Development: Collaborate with local employers to identify job opportunities and advocate for inclusive hiring practices.
- Employment Planning: Develop individualized employment plans that align with clients’ goals and abilities.
- Job Coaching: Provide on-site support to clients during the initial phases of employment and ongoing as needed to ensure success.
- Management: Provide trainings, monitor cases and services notes, client screenings, oversee hours and schedules.
- Training & Skill Building: Assist clients in developing job-related skills, including communication, time management, and task-specific competencies.
- Collaboration: Work closely with families, case managers, and other support team members to ensure a holistic approach to client success.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely records of client progress, employer interactions, employment support professional progress and program outcomes.
- Advocacy: Promote awareness and understanding of the value of employing individuals with IDD within the community.
Experience Qualifications:
- Associates degree in social work, human services, education, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Previous experience working with individuals with IDD is highly preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Knowledge of local labor markets and community resources is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- ACRE certification preferred (must obtain within 6 months of employment)
