What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Service Technician position at Onex Inc?
As a Combustion Field Service Technician, you will be maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial combustion systems, ensuring safe and efficient operation. The ideal candidate has a strong technical background in combustion equipment, exceptional problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety and customer satisfaction. The combustion service technicians are generally part of a team of other skilled workers; however, their duties are often performed with minimal supervision so the candidate must be comfortable working independently in a factory setting.
Responsibilities :
Inspect, maintain, and repair industrial combustion systems, including burners, and heat exchangers.
Troubleshoot and diagnose performance issues using specialized tools, meters, and analyzers.
Calibrate and adjust combustion equipment to ensure optimal efficiency and compliance with emissions regulations.
Perform regular preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
Install, test, and commission new combustion systems, ensuring they meet manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
Document all service work, including diagnostics, repairs, and adjustments, in detailed service reports.
Communicate effectively with clients to explain technical issues, provide solutions, and recommend system improvements.
Stay up to date with industry trends, regulations, and technological advancements in combustion and heating systems.
Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and company policies during service and repair activities.
Qualifications :
High school diploma or GED; technical training or certification in combustion systems, HVAC, or related fields preferred.
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in industrial combustion systems or similar roles.
Strong understanding of combustion theory, control systems, and fuel types (natural gas, oil, etc.).
Proficiency in reading and interpreting schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
Ability to operate hand tools, diagnostic instruments, and electronic controls.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to client sites as needed.
OSHA 10 Hour Training
Physical Requirements :
Requires stamina to physical exertion over long periods of time
Comfortable working in various environments, including confined spaces, elevated areas, and extreme temperatures.
Must be able to move or handle equipment and materials generally weighing up to 50 pounds
Must be able to pass a Pre-Employment Drug screen and subject to random Drug Testing upon hire– Onex is a Drug Free workplace due to the safety sensitive nature of our work
